How To Get Clear Water at home to put into containers.

WCF

Help Support WCF:

Yeah cheers for that, the idea with the backpack was to maybe do one property then carry refill water in the vehicle as much as 120ltrs so could possibly do 6/7 properties ? ( Good to start )

If I can't work out away of getting clear water then that won't work anyway.

Wfp has its own worries too, its the preferred method and by far the safest but it’s not the be all and end all. The equipment & maintenance is dearer, lots of time spent filling tanks, resin costs, dragging hoses around cluttered properties with plant pots everywhere. water storage, risk of equipment freezing in winter, replacement brush heads, pole repairs, new hoses etc, generally the need for a larger vehicle especially if you have a tank system. it does have its drawbacks as does everything. And with backpacks you have to replace batteries every 18 months & depending on what backpack you have you may have to solder the new ones in...not something you wanna be doing in the evening which is when you always find yourself doing it. & sometimes need to replace the whole unit itself. we have been through about 5 backpacks (bearing in mind we use em day in day out)

If you do go trad, try and use the poles as much as poss. Ladders should be a last resort really. No second chances with ladders so dont take any unnecessary risks, if the grounds no good or if the window is inaccessible just dont go there. Helmet too, i wear one for gutters on high houses. Other than that...squeegee set & bucket, pay your insurances, bit of dish soap & off you go. It’s a slow way to work but it’s pretty much pure profit. Bungalows are a good bet [emoji102]

Hi I'm also in a upstairs flat but I'm di only as my water is only around 35. My di is in the van and I just fill up whenever I can, at my mum's, my mates or at a costumers while I'm doing there windows. I would say you should check with your mates or family to see if you can use there garden or shed.

You’ll be fine mate. find it hard to go bust as a trad window cleaner mate !! [emoji23] can do it part time on top of other things. Once you’ve got the gear expenses are minimal

But the profit you make from wfp outweighs the expenses by far

When i went from trad to wfp after around 25 years i shoved a backpack in my old car and 8 x 25l drums and was well away

Used to wfp tops and trad bottoms until i got quicker

Nowadays if i don't earn a quid per litre of pure used I'm slacking

Backpack blows up then £105 to Mr Gardiner and a new one arrives tomorrow

That is peanuts compared to what it earns me

A quid a litre  :1f911: , would be happy to average 70p

I use trollies and backpacks and am used to working quick to save water

Don't like running out halfway through a job

60 litres of water wont get you anywhere mate, you can use that on one house if its a first clean no problem. We used over 75 litres on a first clean yesterday it was that bad and was only a medium sized house with more glass than normal. You wanna be looking at carrying a minimum 300 litres as a sole trader or you’ll be running out in no time. As for the purification im a soft water area so cant help you there sorry

If it's really bad do u not use tap through a cheap pole to rid the crud then back on with fresh pure in your bestest pole.
I don't use this myself cos always have enough water for the day but would use this if i were limited.

Hey dude.

Firstly, welcome to your new business and good luck :)

I’ve had your predicament before but with a rented house and not a flat. Couldn’t install an outside tap, water ppm was 330 so useless for window cleaning so I bought an unger hydro flo, couple of lengths of hose and a hozelock clamp to fit over the kitchen tap so I could run the hose to the hydro vessel. Window cleaning warehouse do a bundle for about £350 which includes most of what you need to get started including the back pack, pole, hydro flo and one resin bag.

Just be be warned that it will cost an arm and a leg once you get enough work in, but it might get you started. Perhaps begin with doing upstairs windows with the back pack and down stairs with traditional tools to get your water to last longer.
