I am in Essex. I really would love to have the channel and rubber dog ear done, I just though some one would have started doing them and selling them completed. I dont have the correct gear to make it and prob would not feel confident I had done it right.

By the way, what video on line would you say id best for a newbie to follow in learning use of the squeegee, just want to better my skills at it..../emoticons/smile.png

Its easy to make your own dog eared squeegee.

You need a vice or workmate to hold the channel while you cut into the ends with a Hacksaw.

Then you use a pair of pliers to bend the tabs out and down a little.

(See the videos wagga has made and you will see).

Essex is too far from me, I'm in the midlands. You must appreciate that a lot of the stuff you read on here has been gained from experience, you would probably find it very difficult to operate some of these things if you were given them. It's all about getting to know you trade - it's a skill, and takes time to master.

Yes mate, I get you, I think its best i master my unger channel and rubber and then move forward. Still can do a good job with it, just takes a little longer.

Can I ask, the unger rubbers for my 14 inch channel stick out eaither side a fair bit, does anyone make them shorter? or will this effect it i thought it may work better with not so much sticking out either side? Any tips/advice.

You can cut the rubbers down, if you have them sticking out each end a little over 1mm will be alright. I started to answer you last night and got called away, by the time I had come back an hour later people had put the vids up. Vid2 that Smurf put up is probably the best for you, as it looks like his squeegee has no modifications done to it. You might also consider a shorter channel, as the longer they get, the more difficult it is to manoeuvre; 11 to 12 inch is 'normal'.

The only tip i can offer you on this scottie, is to start working slowly, and do the best you can.

If you practice over and over slowly, it will imprint into your brain the action.

Therefore the speed will come to you in time. You will do it well, but your speed will get quicker naturally without trying.

Yes mate totally agree. thanks! I am takign each step at a time, jst get the tech right and then worry about speed later, its not as if I am rushed off my feet yet.

It makes you wonder why when i can spend 5 minutes in the shed and mod my squeegee to have very little detailing that none of these companies has made a decent squeegee before now

Learn to use a squeegee properly and you wont need to do any detailing! or dogearing!
