I know what you mean - it's not even 6pm and I'm nodding off. I'm sat in front of the fire which doesn't help.....

:snooze:

Whats this IPA everyone is on about?
isopropanol is 99.9% alcohol you put with the water and it stops it freezing and sheeting on the glass. i used to use it all year round and it used to be cheap a few years ago. could buy 30L for £35 but its shot up in price. it doesnt effect the ppm of the water either which is good.

I started on my shops at 6.30 this morn trad, and nothing froze up. Had a full day. However I've booked myself a days lorry driving tomo as it's supposed to be even colder tonight. Windows will be done on Thursday

i just bought an inverter and a tubular heater, i got a window cleaning mate who uses this in his van, its on a timer to kick on and off. he says his van is the only one down the street with no ice on it in the morning and its toasty warm. he uses a split charge relay on his van so his aux battery is charged up from the driving about in the day. so im moving to this idea now.

Yeah I looked and it's £25+ for 5L now. I didn't bother and tank was fine today

Totally forgot last night and spent an hour de frosting the system this morning,

first time ive come across ice on windows as well, takes ages to melt it with cold water

Ive no heater in the van at the moment so taken important bits out and drained system dry

we shall see

It's going to be -6 here tonight. So I've just been out to my van, filled up tank, drained reel hose, covered windscreen with big piece of cardboard, put oil filled radiator in the back and covered the pump and hoses with a house removal blanket. Hope that's enough
Did it work?

We were minus 3 here, and I'm still iced up at 11am!!! I just used to old duvet covers, but still frozen. Just didn't think to fill the tank up! It was frozen - all 3inches of what left from my last job yesterday!! [emoji23]

i wrote today off. i had sheet on windscreen which worked.

i had a duvet on my trolly which never worked, even tho i drained the system and pipes etc it still managed to freeze up. i spent almost 45 mins trying to defrost the pump. barrels were frozen solid, and my side door on my van was frozen solid and wouldnt open. so todays work is now chucked onto friday.

I've not had a good day

My wife and eldest daughter went to the o2 to see Justin Bieber straight from school yesterday leaving me with the other kids and the baby. Spent the evening in chaos until the wife got home at about 1.30am :gush:

Got up this morning and realised that I'd taken absolutely no precautions against the cold. Tried to fill my tank up and the transfer hose was frozen solid. Thawed that out with a few kettles of water, filled van up and set off to the first job.

Arrived and hose was frozen. Didn't dare turn the pump on. Decided to use the backpack. Again, frozen solid.

Gave up and went to Argos and bought an oil filled rad with thermostat and frost protection feature. Been defrosting the van since then.

I won't be making that mistake again o_O
