Cheap window cleaning!

I have to laugh at these idiots mate for working all day for peanutsIf you look at one of my earlier posts i commented how these people ruin prices for everyone

One of mine had a leaflet from a crap carpet cleaner who is now licking glass

I charge £18 a month and it would be £23 bimonthly.

This guys price for 8 weekly £12

I've not lost any, bloody fool.

You pay peanuts you get monkeys, they will do it that cheap for so long until they can't carry on that cheap. Then they disappear and move onto something else

they was charging £4 for every house.they are both finished now.totally crazy and it dos,int say much for the customers in my opinion

one of my customers questioned my price I charged £30 and she let this doylum do them for £15 thinking she was being smart arse , these clowns only done then once never to be seen again

I can almost understand (although don't agree) them thinking they can undercut everyone and charge £4 a house. Even if they only did three houses an hour that's £12, that's almost a fiver more an hour than they'd earn working in a shop or restaurant. Like I say, I can kind of understand it but it's not on.

That £12 an hour is turnover not profit.

I had some one go in to a resturaunt in town I clean just last week they offered to do it at 50% less than I was.

The lads trying to get the job work for a national and try to pick up jobs on the side for cash in hand.

I don't get the whole undercutting mentality the only one that benefits is the customer and the cleaner has a load of underpriced work ,it's terrible business sense and shows their inexperience.

Like some one said above "you get what you pay for"

We did all the windows on the house as well it's come to my attention that you can't do these properly without a garden tap and hose, luckily this one had both.

They can stick to £2.50 a go. Quoted a commercial today that I don't really want as it's a logistical nightmare.

So sir, you'll be looking at £8'750 providing I can get the council to agree to let me close the road for two consecutive evenings.

The price is fine, how soon will you know from the council?

its easy to think when starting out that £15 per hour is a good target, when i started i thought if i can just get 80 a day thats 400 a week, thats 500 more a month than when i was on minimum wage. its not until you get stuck in and start contending with the weather and messers, overheads etc that you realise its simply not worth doing and you would be better off on minimum wage and not have the stress and hassle.

BUT i think its very important to go through that phase, you can only really learn by experimentation, other people can advise you and tell you this and that but it doesnt really sink in until you experience it yourself.

To be fair it does contain hypo anyway lol

Hi Daveyboy,

How is the above stuff applied to the conny roof, finials ect.....by a pump sprayer or something.

Also,if bleach spray, what proportions with water work best to get rid of the gunk. Could you advise please.

I use the regular UBIK but sometimes it dont half take some scrubbing using an extended pole and I could use some advice to make this a bit easier on the shoulders ?

If the ubik needs a lot of scrubbing you need to make it a bit stronger or leave it to sit and work for a while

How have you been applying it?

I either spray it on with a 7l pump up sprayer if it is within easy reach or lightly soiled

If it is a big roof or fascia job i will make a strongish mix and use my wfp backpack and spray everywhere with the brush jets

Once everything is soaked turn it off and work it in a little with the brush

Walk away and have a smoke or a cuppa and come back

Connect to customers tap and get a good flow going

Scrub away and it will melt off

Usually it will come off with the first or second pass of the brush then

Yes of course that makes perfect sense. Apply it in a stronger solution. I only hesitated doing this as I read every now and again that it can cause some problems to the glass / pvc in some circumstances and didn't want to create a problem that I might have trouble rectifying.(Especially when its very hot outside) I apply it using a 7 litre pump sprayer, which I have connected to the hose of an old clx pole. The spray head has then been clamped into the top of the pole and just pushed into the pole hose that runs through the pole.

What would be the circumstances that you might use bleach on the pvc. Thank you.

I am new to softwash which is where you would spray hypo on it

That is for bad roofs i woud say

Bleach spray i would use just to spray on lichen stains etc by hand or a little sprayed on the brush just to remove those and clean the rest like normal first
