Anybody got recommendations for a decent drop in tank immersion heater.
I have a 1kw one of dubious quality, the wire gets very hot after 10 minutes so wanting a decent 2.5kw one if possible or a 3kw one if it's safe to use on domestic electrics.
Having fun melting the ice in my tank at mo and don't want this problem again, it's not solid but don't think the pump would like it either.

Dont think there is a drop in immersion heater they are usually mounted in the bottom of the tank by cutting a hole and fitting a flange , get professional advice if using 3kw as you may have issues over running your electricity supply from a normal socket

There’s loads to choose from.

My advice is to not go higher than 2kw.

3kw is too much for household electrics, bearing in mind you will have it on for many hours.

I defo no electrician but they look a little dangerous to me, maybe it's just me but I wouldnt fancy dangling one in my tank does the wire go in the the water as well as the heating element? Like I say I have no knowledge of electric and water being mixed.
