Gardiner back pack hole in the lid???

Cant say I'd noticed the small hole in the middle of lid before, and 4 smaller holes around it. Surely bugs or dirt can get in? Was thinking of blocking the holes up, would this matter?

ah, cheers man, will leave it then. Any bits would have to get through the mesh filter too anyway I guess so should be fine.

I'm looking to make the hole bigger so I can get a mixer paddle through it. Connect to drill and give a quick mix before applying.

As already said they are breather holes ,also there is a filter in the top right under the lid and another one at the bottom of the tank so you would have to be very unlucky to have anything get in there and cause a problem
