Is it ok to do WFP cleaning in -2 my first winter doing it

-4 is the cut off for me or if there's thick snow on the ground. im more worried about crashing the van than water freezing on the glass.

I have grit and a sweeping brush to get rid of standing water on my last few jobs of the day.

i also just grit some elderly customers driveways as a courtesy thing.they really appreciate it!??

We have a lot of hills on our round with untreated roads. My van is also my main consideration. Trying to earn a few extra pennies sometimes just isn't worth the risk.

Bottom line is it’s up to you , cleaning the windows isn’t the problem it’s the water left behind turning to ice causing a slip hazard that’s more of a concern.

i like to binge watch a few episodes so i do get engrossed, likewise it pees me off when its one episode at a time is aired hence me binge watching.
its sunny here at the moment and i suppose i could have gone out and done a bit but managed to clean the carpets at home so the wife will be very happy, only for today though

I prefer to watch it each week as it's about the only decent series to watch at the moment otherwise I'm stuck at times with my wifes choices not always ideal,

I managed a good day's work today worked till 4pm,

Yes, looks like he'd done a full valet with snow foam, everyone was crossing the road as they could see it way off, but might be so easily seen in the dark and it ain't going nowhere for days

Consider dropping an aquarium heater into your tank overnight. The ones I have are 500w. Dropped in at around 4 pm yesterday the water this morning was at 20c . All connectors and reel frost free and it helps with the rinsing early on in the day .

I used one for a good few years a 1kw one but then it broke now got a 500w I think and they are decent but the new one isn't as good as the old one, I switched systems this year and didn't want my new tank wrapped up in foil bubble wrap but may re-think this mine didn't get the water very warm without the insulation but as it's only a few days of cold I figured I'll manage this week and most likely go down the 2kw immersion element route if needs be

Just shows today-3 at 8am cleaning windows all was fine conservatory windows didn't freeze had the immersion heater on last night. Last job of the day forgot to put my handbrake on. So lesson to myself slow down abit when the weather is like this. I'm lucky that I didn't really Need to be out but I like keeping up with the rota and being on time. But that today was a massive school boy error. Luckily nobody was around so they didn't get squashed and the van slide down the road around 10 meters into a wall that stood its ground.

So message from this is yes its good being able to work in all weather's but the cold air still stops my brain working anyhow ? ?

I don’t wrap my tank up and it gets the back of the van nice and warm like a big radiator. I only have a 500ltr though and put it on quite early for the next day ( on for 16hrs or so) it’s been a game changer for me . I have insulated the back of the van though

What did you use to insulate the back of the van? I'm planning on doing mine but want to make sure I use the right stuff.

I had my last tank insulated and yes it did stay warmer longer but the van was always cold and windscreen frozen. This new tank I've left and the van was nice and warm so definitely won't be insulating this one. I find if the hot water can make it till lunch time then anything after that your fine anyway.

If the water isnt freeing on the glass and your equipment isnt frozen then crack on. Worrying about water on the ground isnt in my mind. Ive never had one customer moan about water on the ground or had anyone say theyve slipped in 9 winters at this job.

But if they did you could be found liable and negligent, and doubt public liability would pay out if no precautions have been taken , unfortunately we are living in a world ware ones are happy to try and make a claim for a fast buck

What did you use to insulate the back of the van? I'm planning on doing mine but want to make sure I use the right stuff.

What I did was stuff as much loft insulation into the cavity areas behind the ply . Then the ply, then silver space bubble roll everywhere. .

i think that i have to reply to this one, i am at the moment recovering from a broken alnus bone (forearm to me and you) thats the first thing your body does when you slip or fall is to put your arms out to avoid further injury, so far this injury has cost me over 10k in lost work, work i couldn't do because of the pot on my arm now, if that happened to one of your customers who slipped on the then now frozen water from the window cleaning then yes, i have a month or so to prepare a really good claim against you for damages, your public liability insurance will most likely not pay out so, they may go for your assets, i had this with a customer today that asked when i was due, i explained due to everything being minus whatever and the freezing water and slipping she was perfectly fine with this and understood. i might come over as a, a pussy or being over the top but, i like my home and i'd rather keep it
