If you are going to process water once a week then the r/o won't be working hard enough IMHO. It needs to work regularly to work efficiently. (This comment isn't from personal experience, its what I have picked up from what others have said. There maybe some who would say that there isn't a problem.) Hence the reason for saying that 1 day a week its probably better to buy in your water and write it off as a business expense. (Its not a tax free expense - its just that your expenses are taken away from your turnover so you don't pay tax on that amount.)Wow cheers spruce great info mate.
I pay 4p a litre from Courtney. I have a 350 tank so
0.4 x 350 = £14 per fill.
I cleaned 10 houses the other day via back pack all first cleans aswell
5 x fronts only = 2 bay windows and front door on each.
5 x full house cleans = 2 huge houses, 3 terraced 3 bedroom houses.
I used the 350 on this lot. So I'm not sure wit regular cleans how much less ill use. But if I'm averaging 1 full up per day then £56 a month on water. So 9 months tge systems bought itself on water alone. Let alone time saved.
How long do you think my filters, membrane and resin would last doing 350 litres a week.
@doug atkinson visits this forum so maybe he could advise you better with regard to usage as he deals with a wide spectrum of cleaners. Tagging him will hopefully bring his attention to this. /emoticons/smile.png
Rather than buying a second hand unit, www.daqua.co.uk have a 4021 system on sale for £400 including VAT and delivery. You already have a 350 liter tank which is better for a day's work than a 250 liter tank. Into the future you will probably ditch the backpack in favour of a hose reel and pump. If you do then you will need more water.
Lets say you did 7.5 full houses as per your example. You used 46 liters a house. (I'm surprised it was that little tbh, but then we live on the North East coast so we use more water washing and rinsing due to the salt on the windows.) I would guess (assumption) that you would use about 1/2 that or even a little less on a maintenance clean every 6 weeks or so. That's roughly what my son uses when we work away from the direct influence of the sea.
I don't know your circumstances but I seem to remember somewhere you stated you weren't on a water meter. If your tap water is a high tds then your membranes may will not last as long as ours do. Again if the membrane is working at 98% efficiency then the remaining tds the resin is required to polish off will be higher. Eg. If your water is 300ppm then at 98% the tds will be 6ppm. So your resin will last a third of the time mine does.
If you live in a complex of flats then processing water could become an issue as most likely the complex is on a water meter. So this has to be considered as well. You could buy all this stuff and a little later the body corporate could ban you from filling up.
If you are in a hard water area then you will need to have a higher waste to pure ratio. It could even be as high as 3 waste to 1 pure.
