Ladder feet

WCF

Help Support WCF:

I've not really encountered any real drawbacks with the ankalad myself. How about you?

To add little fuel to this fire, I've made a little observation today. I tried the ladder mats out with my window cleaning ladder and the feet are about an inch away from the outside edge of each mat which is not too good considering they are meant to be made for window cleaners by window cleaners. That said, I couldn't be without my mats, but its important not to rely on any one piece of safety equipment, as they all have drawbacks, even the ankalad. best to have a few different methods, so you can pick the most appropriate for the situation.

I've not got one yet but I could imagine obstacles could get in the way, confined spaces, steps, dwarf walls, dwarfs, etc could get in the way. Like any piece of safety equipment, its only good if you use it, and |I couldn't imagine a trad cleaner setting it up on every window. Only speaking theoretically so I couldbe wrong.

id bet on it that the ladder makers know of the risk which is why they all choose hard plastic for ladder feet over other material .

im absolutely sure that when your ladder feet wear out the only thing you should replace them with is the original type feet. all the ladder makers can be found online. its a pity the makers dont have their feet readily available in window cleaning supply stores- the guy selling cut to fit rubber feet has obviously seen a gap in the market and got in there first-all the supply stores have his rubber feet now on sale

but as i say he is selling a potentially lethal product to the ordinary joe soap who unfortunately knows no better

my plan is to swap my current feet with the ones off the top section which get little wear...:)and with the amount of work i do....or the speed i work at these days....that is a long way off....

them dwarfs get everywhere....

What subject was that then ....Oh now I remember./emoticons/biggrin.png

Whatever make the ladder is contact the maker/supplier for replacement stabaliser bar replacement feet. If not maybe throw it away and get yourself a new ladder or just find a stabaliser bar that will fit it.

The feet on my ladder are shot.Anyone know where I can get a spare set.

Before you all rush the ones I am looking for are the ones that fit on the bar that goes on the bottom of your ladder to stop it tilting each side. They slide on on a bit of plastic & the bar sits out a couple of feet each way on yer ladder.

I've looked everywhere.

I bet you did selling a dodgy ladder...shame on you /emoticons/biggrin.png

throw it away smurf...you not heard of car boots....i got £10...mind you ...i did feel guilty afterwards....

yeh sad thing is i have needed it ever since as the other is too big to get through my extension...

it was safe ish it just moved from side to side a bit ...too much...

I'm not gonna throw a perfectly good ladder just because the rubbers gone on the feet.

Have now fitted some new rubber on. As good as new

Nah. I bought some good quality rubber & stuck & screwed it on. Good as new now & very stable. To me rubber is the best for ladders IMO

Keep us posted how you get on

me thinks the ladder was a bit far out.....i only slide da once in all my life and that was after i finished cleaning the window and again that was my fault as i did something wrong..maybe i be lucky........so far....

its a common mistake to assume rubber feet are better than original plastic feet . i bang on about it as i learned the hard way ,wouldnt want anybody else i knew or didnt know to fall the full drop cos of rubber

That pitch wasn't even close to a safe angle. Ouchio.

@Smurf. Just got myself a microlite for £65inc delivery. Not the best price I've seen but its still a nice saving on a new one. Getting very close to the full smurf setup (minus the vacuum cleaner thing)./emoticons/biggrin.png
