No. You will just need to keep the sunlight off it or it will go green very quickly

Oh right would a garden water butt be ok to use it has a lid

Many use those without issue. If you use anything in clear plastic then algae becomes an issue as it doesn't block the sunlight.

No it won’t but it could go green in sunlight and that will affect the tds

I have 2 ibc tote 1000 litre tanks, never had an issue so far. I did get covers for them though.
