as everyone knows   it tries to go up every year.    We do our best to get a lower quote

Last year  Gladiator  was  £320.    Wanting £400 this year.       They do reduce if you can compare any quotes you get from other sites.       Any sugestions for lower costing companies.     Been with Gladiator for 5 years now    always been the cheapest    with strapped in 500 tank as a modification

Comparison sites dont seem to  recognise  water tanks  in the modification drop down box

got Aplan phoning tomorrow

any one any recomendations  to call for a quote below £400

For more mainstream places. I believe both Admiral and Aviva have water tanks in their drop down modifications menu that you can add to a quote. Have to go direct rather than through comparison websites though.

I wouldn't touch A-Plan with a barge pole, I am with Admiral and pay £300 for the year the tank is declared and it's in black and white on my policy documents if the tank ain't on the documents it ain't legally declared

I'm with aplan based at Carterton, only went up a few pounds can't remember how much but itz £400 n something with full rescue cover, I get a replacement wfp van if its not my fault n a normal van if it is, plus I have the legal protection, can't complain.

Thats with bolted in 400 litre tank n option of having 6kg propane bottle in for boiler, that I've not used for over a year, but just incase kept it on.

I always use the comparison sites then ring the cheapest company, give them the reference and then declare modifications. Price goes up, obviously, but find its the easiest way.

Do you have other vehicles at your house? I ask because taking out a muticover policy has reduced our cost massively. We also have the house cover in with the cars. They all still get there own policy (so if my mum claims it doesn't effect me, for instance) but they give you a hefty discount.

Recommendations for van insurance quotes from us is impossible

The factors that make up insurance are different for each and everyone of us.

Driving history

Vehicle specifications

Load installation

Criminal background

Demographic area, Crime algorithm,  work & residents

Value of Vehicle

It's an annual cost for all of us which we account & save for.

An impossible question to answer Sorry

Our public liability insurance went up 10% this year and my van insurance 13%.  No claims and no changes in the past year.

Anyone that pays the quote that’s sent to them or found online is a bit naive in my opinion.

Every year I get a quote from 3-4 companies. Aviva always sends me a reminder that my insurance is due.

I then phone Aviva, ask for the retention centre and work away at the estimate until I get it reduced.

Been with them 4 years on the spin and never paid what they originally asked ?.

Have a great weekend fellow windies. Pub time ?????

I agree with you, there's always scope to get a better deal

Yet some complain when custys question their quotes. Funny business where they can question every quote they get but any custy that questions theirs is an instant pita / dump

Same here, well almost I just phone my insurance up and get them to knock the renewal price down shaved a combined £120 off my insurance and the multi policy for our home and the wifes car

I think things for non commercial insurance change sometime next year. It's something like the insurance companies have to offer repeat customers same price as a new customer. So they can't just keep jacking price up each year for 'loyal' customers!

My Mums bricks and mortar policy was jacked up from about £100 to £1500 over a 6 year period as she just stayed with same company!!!! She happened to mention that she paid over £100 a month!! and I queried if she meant per year? Turns out they were taking advantage plus she should have shopped round. We rang them as a new customer would have been paying more like £150 using their online quote system - they reduced the price down to £200 a year which was much better!!!

Sorted  £57 discount after a phone call.     so happy days .   £350 for the year is ok with me.

Aplan could not compete   £600+   no way hoessey

Yep, starts from January. Probably means new prices will go up, less that renewal prices will come down. Still worth shopping about, though.

https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/car-insurance/

From 1 January 2022, the Financial Conduct Authority, which regulates insurance, will ban car insurers from charging existing customers more at renewal than they would expect to pay when taking out a new policy with the same firm. Currently, many insurers hike renewal prices for existing customers – this is known as 'price walking'.

Price walking is where insurers increase the renewal price every year for a customer, even though there's been no change in their circumstances, risk level or vehicle. It's often called the 'loyalty penalty' and relies on inertia – the customer opting to pay the renewal cost and stay with their insurer rather than compare prices elsewhere and switch.

Banning price walking is a popular move and is good news for those who don't switch (or do switch but don't want the hassle of doing it). But it could also push up prices for savvy switchers over the coming months.

Our guess is insurers won't just cut renewal prices to match those they charge new customers. They'll drop them and crucially increase new-customer charges to meet in (or above) the middle.

Though this DOESN'T mean there won't still be savings to be made by switching policy from January. There will, as different insurers will have different prices – and new entrants will try to disrupt the market – but the savings overall will likely be smaller.

Rates will likely change before January, so check now while they're still cheap

Prices for car insurance are low right now compared with the past few years. Yet while the new regime officially starts in January, changing the pricing algorithms is a big job, so insurers will likely start to shift prices sooner than that.

If that's right, the clock is ticking and the cheapest prices may start to disappear within weeks or months. So everyone should check ASAP to see if they can cut costs by grabbing cheaper switchers' deals.

My mate had a few vans stolen in quick succession and the insurance company told him if it happens again he will be uninsurable. He then got a German van and its been okay till someone ran in to it. He was telling me his insurance is nearly £300 a month because of all the claims and looking at a different business. ?

I wonder if he could set up a limited company and insure the van in with the company name? No idea if that would work, knowing insurance companies they would close that loop hole but you never know.

You can't hide anything or your insurance is null and void. Transits were getting nicked every week up here last year because they had a master key. You need to make it difficult for them with deadlocks, steering wheel locks or fitting immobiliser. Doing nothing meant it would be a target especially if no signwriting on it. You have got to spend money to make money that's what I found out. Bought and fitted deadlocks and got my alarm replaced on van but it cost a grand and then got the wfp system fitted in it. This game is all about spending money to make money but at some point the see-saw tips in favour of earnings after a few years, what I have noticed.

It all depends on what you are insuring where you live and the level of insurance you require.

I am with A plan and have a WFP courtesy van included in the policy as well as some other products.

Only 2 or 3 at most insurance companies specialise in window cleaning and A plan came out the cheapest of them all.
