Hi all , recently just moved house and it’s got a water meter anyone else on water meter and have any advice on how to keep the bills down and can you put it through your books?

I believe some lads have fitted sub meters  I think they are to keep track of the waste-water that goes down the drain and this isn't chargeable by the water company, but not sure if this applies to all water companies. Hopefully someone will jump in and answer your question

I have a sub meter that records how much water I use outside the property you only pay for the water no sewage charge makes a big difference, you will probably find that your water company will have to fit it give them a ring and explain what you are doing they should be helpful just make sure that any waist goes on your garden not the main drains or they will still charge the sewage charge

Or you can fit a simple water meter on your RO, and when the bill comes you split it between private and business use? Talk to your accountant about that.

I understand sub meters can be expensive? So might not be worth investing in one in the short run. Talk to your water board about this, as the rules and prices varies greatly.

After all, the cost of water should be miniscule compared to what you earn with it. Fuel would be a much, much higher expense, and we don't bat an eye on that for some reason..
