Bit different to the wind hazard, but last week i had some one off work on a new build estate. People hadnt moved in yet, but developers wanted the fsg and windows done. Not builders clean, so I took the job on. didnt know that at the back of some of these they hadnt turfed the gardens as yet. With all the rain lately I felt like I was on the somme ?. pole hose getting caked in mud etc. Just by luck i had some work boots in the van too. Nightmare jobs part 3 ?

you ve got work thats 230 miles away from home?are you mental??sounds like you need to find some work closer to home....all mine is a 15 mins drive away from home.....over 300 jobs in a 5 mile area.....5-10 miles at most....
Seriously mental, got 2 options stay at home and struggle to gross £200 a day or travel and gross £500. Glad you're  full of busy and work is local.

How  long have you been at it? If I'd  been at it as long as you I'd  have been retired by now. Each to their own.

Went for a Fry up with a couple of other cleaners at 9:30, then went to watch Le Mans 66’ in the afternoon, we don’t mess around down here either ??

Load of Jessie’s on here. Forty mile an hour winds with horizontal rain in the south east today, but a full days work completed.

It’s the ginger you see. Superior race ????‍??‍?
Us Londoners are made of tougher stuff lol.

Did all day yesterday too.

26 years now......im part time these days...im only 48,plenty of working life left in me yet!......id rather earn  £200-£300 a day nearer to home than travel all that way for £500.....its not all about the money for me...

its not all about the money for me...
Seems the opposite, in the years I have been on here I don't think we have had another member talk about money so much, I think everyone now knows how much you earn per hour and per annum we know your annual expenses how much you have spent on your van and kitting it out also what car you drive, if you feel I have missed anything or there is anything else you would like to tell us all please feel free. Just saying ?

You have missed something,

power reel and extreme poles ?

seems to go with his hourly rate?

The BBC weather said there was a 98% chance of rain all day up here. I then checked with 'DarkSky.net' which showed a few showers, so I decided to wrap up and venture out. Well, my area must have been the 2% because I never seen a shower till the afternoon. Must thank the chap who highlighted Darksky.net on here because I rarely leave home without looking at it.

Pretty much the same for me in the Northeast. Met office app was more reliable. Was all done by 2pm!

of course its about the money.....but once i reach a certain level of income i couldnt care less about earning more if it means putting in more hours/travel time/hassle....i cant be bothered as im already comfortable financially....and i dont want to upset my work/life balance!!?

Good for you but to have a go at someone that travels is wrong. I've  ran my business for 5 years and my turnover last year was over £50k. The interesting part is is you actually work, on average, more hours a month than me, including travel time.

I know when it's cold and wet out as I can see and feel it.??

Darksky etc no good for me as I'll be out in it even if it's gonna be bad.

having a go?what are you a "snowflake"?im not having a go im just saying i think your mental to travel 230 miles to work thats all!?

we travel further than that for some jobs  if the money is right it’s well worth it  , change of scenery , more money what more could you want
I travel very far for softwash and pressure washing jobs but only local for window cleaning.

The aim being next year someone else doing the windows full time and me doing other jobs.

I now live 30 miles from where I grew up in London but have recently picked up a contract in Hampstead for 2 nursing homes to do pressure washing once a year and windows quarterly which I will do myself.

Well worth it to do so why restrict yourself geographically?

2 jobs at about 400 quid both done in 2 days.. why would you not do it?

Even if I payed my mate £80 a day to help i'm quids in.

160 out for 800 in for 2 days work.

But what do I know @dazmond?

Obviously you know how to run a business and we don't.

I got a job tomorrow for half a day.. 30 mile'ish drive for some flats that on my own will earn 350 quid between 8am and 12 and then drive back and do some houses.. I think we know what we are doing lol.

??? I might be many things, but I promise you, a snowflake isn't one of them. Sometimes I wonder if you understand your own posts so I'll translate one for you. In the English language saying to some one they are mad is the same as saying they are stupid, crazy or silly. Now even to the uneducated that is having a go at someone for doing what they are doing.
