I have the old add on power reel and the motor started making a funny noise today.  I'm going to take it apart the next wet day but would like a new motor in case I can't get it working again . Just not to sure what motor it is as I can't find any numbers on it. Cheers.

Do you have a picture? There ought to be a label somewhere on it. I believe most reels use electric scooter motors?
I'll try and get a pic tomorrow.  It's a bit behind everything but I'll get one. I've had a good look for a label but couldn't find one. It's years old and I've had it for about 18 months and this is the first problem.  I'll probably get the waterworks one in the future but if I can get this one fixed for £20 I might as well just fix it...

Had a good look through the forum and found out it's the 24v everyone is using so ordered one but it's coming from Hong Kong lol. Should be here for next week then I'll have a look at it. Also got a handle for the reel in case it stops working while I'm out working.

Make sure the one you have ordered has a shaft that fits a chain sprocket.

There were issues a while back where they started to supply motors with a toothed belt drive pulley telling everyone that they no longer do the chain sprocket.

Cheers it did say it fitted a chain but I'll find out when it comes..  I'm not sending it back to Hong Kong if it's wrong lol. If it's the wrong one I'll just sell it on eBay for a small loss.

I was just use it to attach to my trolley, an not actually a van mount, sorry bud crossed wires

Cause there's 40 foot of hose on the reel, I'd use that just

How come people are using a powered reel, why not use a self retracting reel?
I spent a lot of time looking for a suitable retractable reel (partly because I liked the way it wound itself on neatly without needing to be guided) but couldn't find one suitable. Electric reels make a massive difference to us now though- especially if you have it on a remote so you can be winding in while walking back to the van.
