Anyone got any photos?

Reason I ask is that rather than a univalve I'd like to fit a remote control to my setup. That obviously means fitting a receiver to the BP but as I still got a few months warranty left on the pump, I'd rather not open it up to look inside it yet. Just wondering if anyone could supply any pics so i can see roughly how its wired up? - I'm using the V3.

Cheers

I wouldn't quibble over a univalve if i had a van setup but working with a little battery powered pump I'd prefer to save it the strain of sudden stop / starts under pressure (that and a univalve is 30 quid whereas I have loads of electronic components etc already here as i'm a hobbyist)..

I was just wondering how the speed control fits in.. is it just a normal potentiometer or is there an electronic speed controller in there?

Pump will work fine with the univalve and if it does die you can get a replacement for £10. Remotes are a faff, univalves are reliable and far more practical.

Sorry, immature sense of humour

The univalve is the most underrated thing on the market for me. It not only makes work easier & quicker than turning off a tap, but noticeably saves water too.

I’d never work without one again.

You are not wrong.  Since the inception of WFP the two greatest advances in my opinion are the Motorised Reel and Univalves.

Where can i get one at that price? - Gardiner list them at £22.50 + vat!

To be honest I still reckon the sudden pressure impact from a univalve will shorten the pumps lifespan. Also the darn things cost £40 from the cleaning warehouse whereas I can hack up a remote control system from bits I already have here for a lot less. Only problem is I don't want to do it until my warranty has expired for obvious reasons.

I'm not slating the univalve at all - the thing looks to be the work of a genius and if i was van mounted with a more robust pump i wouldn't think twice but at the moment I can't afford to risk my little BP pump going pop while i'm still in the early days of round building..

I used a gardiner backpack with a univalve in the pole as my sole wfp system for a year and a half, the pump in it is still going strong.

My gardiner backpacks are three years old only get used if going thru houses but have always use univalves.

Reading through the thread I think the guy just doesn’t want to spend £30 ?

But I agree with all the comments, uni valves are one of the best things made. You don’t even need to think about it once you start using it.
