Why isn't my resin lasting longer

This is how my resin looks for some reason ? I never remembered it looking 2 tone

How is the incoming water distributed through the resin? It looks like you are using a standard prefilter housing filled with resin.

The first RoMan r/o used the third housing as a resin vessel. The resin was contained in a cartridge so water was forced through the resin in the same way the sediment and prefilter works.

It’s in a cartridge it just doesn’t look like it lol. Have you any idea why the colour is different

TBH, no. At one time there was resin available that changed colour as it was spent. I couldn't see the point of it as the resin was in a cartridge and you couldn't see what colour it was.

Could it be that the resin has separated? They call it mixed bed resin.

I’ve literally just went out and changed my resin. I tried what you said with the resin in a bucket with tap water. The water read 70 and my tap water is 70. So that’s why I changed it. Now with  fresh resin it’s coming out at 3 ! Also the resin was all the same colour. As the water went in it turned it dark. Strange how they are different though. I’m convinced there is something wrong with my resin vessel. Fresh resin and only producing 3 ?

I have spoken to doug this morning, and we have come to the conclusion that the Di vessel sound so is the riser Doug suggested that I wait till the next resin change & then send him a sample of the old resin for testing...so that’s what I will do for now

just a side thought...

maybe the water isn't being distributed efficiently enough within the di, I noticed there are some di units by spectrum claiming  better resin efficiency. May have a look once we have sorted is out.

ps many tx to Doug for his help so far?
From my last resin change I have prosesed 3000 l took a reading earlier it's at 1ppm that's Ro to Di of 10

so thecresins only done 3000 don't know if it's the resin or the Di vessel ? The resin was from gardiner

so not a doge supplier

When you took the reading did you measure anything else. What happens is if you measured water from another source then the elements will still be in the cap you've taken the reading. When I do this I tend to rinse the cap quite a few times when doing the reading and then I get an accurate reading.

Give me a call in the morning and if you can put a picture of the reading from your R/O.
