Hi everyone,

Recently bought a kitted out van from a well known window cleaning van supplier. Issues with the van straight away which the guy initially denied. Before even thinking about sorting the issues out he just wanted me to send the van back… obviously I needed the van, I had work booked in so that wasn’t an option. Finally said he’ll pay for the repairs… that was 2 weeks ago and is now ignoring my messages and the invoices I sent him. The van is financed so will have to go through them, just wish he would honour the repairs and make this easy like it should be. What does every think?

Just tell the finance company about the costs and issues. They should be on your side and are far more likely to be able to sort it out. I'd ask if you can return it if it's not fit for purpose.
The name of the van company could help others from having these issues
Yeah, the van is certainly fit to drive, was just a few issues like no electric power to charge phones, and the temperature gauge was faulty so things that really you’d want working. Just wondering the best route as ideally I don’t want to send the van back.

I think I can guess the firm but you ought to name and shame them to warn others what they are like
Yeah I doubt it’s the first time he’s pulled something like this. Was hoping he’d respond to my final warning I sent yesterday but clearly ignored that as well.

Best to name the firm, it's not like you are slagging them off. I am looking at potentially buying a van and system from Grippa later this year, so would be interested to know if it is them.

It could but when I did that they used my posting on a public forum as a reason they couldn’t help me. Suddenly all comms had to go through the “directors” (of which there is one on companies house) and they just basically didn’t respond.
Is it your favourite company though, if the company has stopped responding then what other options have you got?
Post it in Members Only then it isn't really a public forum

As soon as the op “he is now ignoring my messages” I knew who it was. That company’s mistakes always come down to one man burying his head in the sand and not dealing with problems.

I’ve just thought, if the op is a sole trader and has financed the van he can issue a section 75. The finance company will then have to fix the issue or allow him out of the finance or something.

The other option. This is the only way If he is a limited company, Is a complaint to the financial ombudsman. First you have to complain to the company in question who have 8 weeks to fully resolve the problem. Then put in a complaint to the financial ombudsman. It’s a long process but it could result in the company in question getting a hefty fine and or having any financial licence revoked (worst case of course)

Didn't know they supplied 2nd hand vans.

Yeah, the business same model as ionics have, without the years of experience, reputation and customer service capability haha. They also sell on vans that have been used by their sister company as hire vans. They're trying to imitate ionics. Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery I am told.
