Hey no coal burning you will be increasing global warming ?????
We're screwed anyway, but clearly things are making people think Shell pulled out of the proposed Cambo oil field, it's a case of not in our backyard, they'll mine the oil but export it to other countries, a bit like not opening up the coal mine for our steel industry yet it's fine to ship it in from Russia or South America and burn it anyway there doesn't seem to be  common sense in some of the decisions made.

Was visiting my daughter today and her neighbour is a window cleaner with a couple of vans so was having a chat, he was swapping out setup up from his old vivaro to a transit connect.
anyway after a long chat he recently bought the xline power reel he don’t like it, he prefers his twin stack PF reelmaster much better as he likes them he said and pointed out the small gap between top bar and side discs and that his 5mm pole hose managed to go over the side I honestly was going to buy a reelmaster as they are clearly a nice well built reel, but for this very reason I think I will stick too the 3D for now as I’m tubless.

Yes I have had this happen with my twin stack reel masters it can take the chain off the sprockets and it’s a right pain putting it back on . Having said that I have also had the pole hose go between the plastic casing and plastic drum sides on the waterworks 3 D as well that also is a pain tk get back out again .

Never had that with the 3D only with the HD, but I do have a fabricated hose guide that is central to the reel.

@Pjj How? The gap is tiny. ?
Yes I know I have managed it a few times i cannot really explain how we have done it both myself and staff have done it it must have just have caught the edge if the hose and then pulled it into the side casing . Luckily each time we were able to get it out by putting a screwdriver between the drum and side casing then unwinding it by turning the drum backwards .

We have 100m of 8mm on our twin stack and can get it on easily as long as you take a bit of care. We also have single hose reels with 6mm on and that goes on easily with very little care. Never had the hose go over the side, to any extent, on either of the reels.

Struggling to see £500+ as penny pinching. So far very happy with my 3D.
They're cheaper then the PF reels which is why quite a few people opt for them rather than the PF reels

We have 100m of 6mm hose plus approx 20m of 5mm pole hole it’s the pole hose I was talking about that can jump over the side discs ?now two people that have them have mentioned this.

when I bought my first hd reels PF only had manual reels money makes money that’s why I use extreme poles electric reel Etc ?don’t mind paying an extra few quick to make life easier and quicker have been fancying a PF reel for a while but I know that it can be a pain and time consuming if the hose jumps over the side. This one issue is honestly putting me off otherwise I would order one.

plus the 3D as been great tbh so I might go with the old adage that don’t try to fix something that isn’t broke have had it since they were released hopefully last a few more years yet.

It would only go over the edge if no one was guiding it on during reeling in. Surely that would happen with any reel.

No I sometime use my remote to reel in on 3D whilst walking back to the van never goes over the gap isn’t big enough for the hose to get sucked.

Personally I stand at the back of the van and guide the hose onto the reel using a cloth in my hand, this has the added advantage of removing water and loose dirt from the hose thus keeping the inside of the van dry and clean.

I haven't gone hoseless/tubeless? yet but it is on the to do list so interested in any potential problems.

We do exactly the same as you with hose set up and you do have to be careful with the pole hose that will go over the side of the drum the 6 mm microbore won’t , most manufacturers don’t  expect ones to be putting pole hose on their reels this could be easily remedied by less gap between the bar and drum but until the majority run hose less set up doubt the likes of PF will bother to alter the design

Shame it a tiny minor detail I would have bought one otherwise normally I would get my mate to fabricate/modify but he isn’t in a good way ATM,
