Hi All, I know its probably been discussed before somewhere along the line. But i have been told by my podiatrist to get some decent boots. I dont mind paying top dollar but was wondering if anyone has any tried and tested comfortable waterfproof boots that they would recommend. Many thanks

You're right, this has been discussed to the point of extreme boredom in the last couple of months. Search bar, same question you just asked.

Armstrong work boots for me. I've never found anything to come close. About £50 or so if I remember correctly. Read the discussions. ?

Basically need a flexible sole, with a wide fitting. I have been wearing Site Waterproof boots but apparently these are no good. So looking for something different.
ahh right, my eldest son had a pair of carbon fibre inserts/insoles made for him which gives him that flexibility and comfort throughout the day- he has to wear boots all day at work, its made the world of difference for him, maybe something to look at?.

an old friend once said to me invest in a good bed and good footwear because, if your not in one your in the other,- true words and ones i've stuck to for many years.

hope it goes well for you.

I bought these start off last month.
By far the best water proof boots I’ve ever tried. Helly hansen is my favourite brand anyway, so I naturally get drawn to them. They were £130. But I probably won’t ever try another pair again.
They come in about 6 different styles.

I’ve always struggled to find boots that are:

•Totally water proof. Not splash proof but your socks are still damp at the end of the day.

•Comfortable. Some boots can be fully waterproof-e.g riggers, but their so clumpy and heavy (I know as I have a spare pair of riggers as a back up)

•Durable- I did buy a £65ish pair of boots from mountain ware house last year or year before. I was happy with them for about 8 weeks, till the sole started to come away from the sole. After 12 weeks I had to throw them away.

•And least important- looks. Some of the boots people have recommended to me in the past look terrible. Like clown shoes or garden gnome boots.

If you can justify the money, I guarantee they won’t disappoint. (But if they do I take no liability ??)

Poser ?????
As a fellow Seasider, HH would be popular down your way.

Hmm after re-reading my post, I certainly didn’t mean to come across posey or showy.
So apologies if I came across like that, not at all.
I also still own some cheap tat in other things honest ??.
But if it’s just banter, I’m all up for that ? @Pjj

I was gifted a pair of these by a friend a year ago. Yes they look a bit OTT but ohh my goodness they are amazing! Waterproof & lined so feet stay dry & warm all day. Plus I don’t notice the weight with them. But then I do work short days ?

I had a pair of neoprene muck boots that were very similar 100% waterproof but found I git wet smelly feet due to sweating , I now have a pair of harkila gtx  walking type boots and just do them with a bees wax dubbin every couple of weeks and find they are 100% waterproof and my feet don’t sweat in them , they are a bit heavy but if you have weak ankles and tend to twist them easily I find these are very good to help prevent that happening

Ohh I’ve never had that issue myself.  I like them cause apart from washing down they require 0 maintenance. Plus I recon they add a couple of inches to my height ?

How on earth can you wear steel toe caps? Bl88dy awful things.
They used to be years ago @Martyn but they have come on a long way if you take care to choose properly. With the stiff soled, single skin navvy boots I was wearing twenty years ago I needed two pairs of thick thermal socks this time of year to keep my feet from freezing. They were also dreadfully uncomfortable.

No issues now ; soft rubber, air cushioned outsoles, double - cushioned warm/cool double insoles (standard and cork) and lining from collar to toe in the uppers/sides. I wear the same type of normal cotton or bamboo fibre socks all year round and never suffer hot, cold or uncomfortable feet. Never need to double up and wear two pairs. Totally different to the old type. ?
