GOT MY CROCODILE LIPS OFF EBAY
Right so ALWAYS put the crocodile clips on the correct battery terminals then lol!SNAP, i had an old controller passed onto me via a chap on here around a year ago, i set up a 2 man wfp kit with it, to shurflo wired upto a van battery . i spent around 4 hours getting it set up correctly positioned. reel, controller, battery , pump all connected up securelly to be just right, terminals on and off battery around 6 times to make sure all ok. the van battery being black, the terminals hard to see. - & +, i hung the crocodile clips off battery ready to go out next day.the mrs says try it to make sure its ok.
not thinking i put clips onto battery, woosh, SMOKE, stinking of burning. fuse all melted, wires melting into controller,
controller binned, had to chage some cabling, luckilly the pump was ok.
i blamed the mrs all day. All my fault. **** happens, had to get a new controller next day
Not great on electrics when u say shorted the electrics do u mean I could do this if the bare wire connectors touched each other from different coloured wires? You made me laugh Johnny B. Joking aside, I did accidentally short out the wiring on my 26ah trolley battery a few years back on the wrong side of the fuse. It made me jump I can tell you, as the wires momentarily welded together before they burned apart. The smoke and fumes were foul and I nearly burned my hands on the wiring. I've been extra careful since believe me.
In answer to your question, Yes. Ideally you need to use connectors that don't leave any metal exposed. Not great on electrics when u say shorted the electrics do u mean I could do this if the bare wire connectors touched each other from different coloured wires?
