I was thinking more of the weight. I’ve always found steel toe caps quite cumbersome.

Do like the look of these though. Interested ?
I think or was thinking the same, I've spent a decent wedge on boots in past but all have being poor for longevity and the price of decent walking boots is now about £100+ Screwfix sell boots from £40 upwards I think I'll go to my local Screwfix pick 1-2 pairs out and try them on because for £40 they are worth a punt

I've got a pair of Merrel goretex, the ones I have I would say are for summer use, as they are thin material over toes, so been getting cold feet. The ones in your picture look more robust so probably got some insulation to them.

I can confirm that the Armstrongs are well padded and lined throughout. I can't fault them.

I'm ordering these https://www.screwfix.com/p/site-mudguard-safety-dealer-boots-brown-size-7/2021d for £40 worth a punt I am seriously going off laces...
Fair enough but I'm very confident in saying that I doubt they'll be near the same league as the Armstrongs. For instance ; look at the difference in detail between the two types. The plush, cushioned thickness of the non-slip sole on the one. Lack of any significant thickness on the other. Welded edges on the soles of one. Lack of welded edges on the other. Cushioned and lined uppers on the one. Doubtful there's any significant lining on the other. Quadruple stitching on the reinforced uppers of the one, less robust reinforcing visible on the other. Shoelaces can be tightened if too loose. Difficult to do anything to tighten slip-ons. I tie my laces very firmly with my feet snuggly harnessed in for the day. The normal bootlace knot is secured with a reef knot which tidies up the excess and secures the knot for the day. The one type is designed for robust working in all weather and ground conditions. The other is from a design made for standing beside the arena bidding at a car auction. The one is shown in many detailed images. The other is shown in just a few images. Not usually a good sign. I'll be interested to hear your feedback.

Yes, but they don't do a size 7 I am a 6 1/2 to 7 in boots it don't matter if they ain't as robust as the others are no good to me and I prefer not pishing on with laces, I'll be trying them on before I leave the store to make sure I'm happy with them to ensure they ain't too big and plenty of room for thick wool socks,

I have walked the soles flat before the uppers have gone on other boots but the prices have shot up on my favourite boots to almost £100 and I don't se the point of spending that kind of money anymore on boots for work, although my current ones were £120 but are no good for winter despite been Goretex

Fair enough. Go with your preference. Mine are size 7. Perhaps not every stockist has that size but I've always been able to find them. I don't remember what supplier I got the last ones from. I just search online when I need them. They are advertised on Amazon at that size at the moment though I try to avoid Az when I can as I prefer to trade with independent companies where possible. Whether they actually have them that size in stock I can't say. But for sure they come in sevens.

About £70 all other places apart from that Charnwood site

Picked those boots up this morning and returned them, all I can say is I now know how Jacque Cousteau felt wearing lead boots for diving, I'll be avoiding safety boots for the rest of my life unless I decide to take it I'll know how to sink in the water fast

Got my no risk boots delivered today, just been walking about in house with them on, feel comfy, I'm a size 12. I bought the fully waterproof ones for £55 delivered, as there was a discount code. There was only size 8 n 12 left in this model. These boots aren't that heavy n I do like light shoes.

Why you walking around your house in them, don’t you have any slippers? ?
