So after not working the last 3 days and not being eligible for the 80% grant I went out today for a few hours . Every customer was happy for me to clean the windows . Even got pulled by the police and asked if I was working alone and once I said yes they drove off . Seems like it isn’t as bad up here in Scotland like it is down south just now ..... yet

I've just joined a Gardeners group already seen someone advertising let's see what they're up to a job is a job you've got more chance of spreading it in the local Lidl I went to last night which was packed 3 members of one family with one trolley, crammed Aisles no distancing my trolley was like a dodgem car couldn't wait to get out that's where the police should be?

They are only letting so many at a time in our supermarkets , you stand in a que   2 m apart are handed anti Bach wipe to wipe trolly/basket handle , throughout the store there are lines on the floor 2 m apart and you have to stay in that area if there is someone in the next gap , only one person per family is allowed in and a maximum of 3 of the same items can be purchased , Tesco, Sainsbury’s,Lidl, are all operating this way in my town

I’ve never seen a thread this mental. Can’t keep up.

same round here. They reckon that’s where you’ll contract it too.

This virus will spread, those that will have a terrible outcome are going to have a terrible outcome, there is no avoiding it, just a matter of when. These containment measures are to slow down the rate of infection so services don't get overwhelmed. Once the numbers drop a bit the NHS, crematoriums, funeral directors etc get a bit of spare capacity then restrictions will lifted a bit so more people get infected, recover (or otherwise). Staying in for a couple of weeks by industries that will be causing minimal spread (if any) will not make one iota of difference. There will be infinitely more spread in the hospital's, Police and fire stations, food shops, take aways etc.

Hopefully the antibody test will be available in a few weeks and we can find out if we've already had it (convinced I did months ago). Hopefully will we have immunity then and things can get back to a relative normality.

The next few weeks could be appalling if we end up anything like Italy or Spain, New York and London are looking especially grim.

Let’s hope there is some weight in the theory from the Oxford professor who says millions may have already have had it. If he’s correct then deaths could be limited to less 20k in most countries.

I contacted Merseyside Police via twitter 30 mins ago and received this reply.

Hi government guidelines state that non essential work must not be carried out John.

"It took 13 days for the number of deaths in the UK to go from one to just over 100. It has taken a further 10 days to reach just over 1,000."

At that rate in a week's time could be looking at 10000.

Quite a sobering thought

Contrary to my previous post, it seems that even the police aren't in agreement across the various constabulary's.

This is ridiculous, there really needs to be a unified message one way or another!

Police are trying to hit the headlines to get a 'tough' msg out there - hence they are deliberately releasing drone footage of couple in the middle of nowhere walking on national tv/media to do their job for them (just read this forum) it would be entirely unenforceable any fine if issued if you took it to court and  wave the guidelines (re working) in front of the judge who - will promptly say - case dismissed, but they are not trying to get convictions but headlines - so the 'masses' crawl back under their stones -

Police aren't paid to think - but act - Judges are paid to think - police are doing as they are being told by their Super Intendants  who want to be seen as 'tough on crime, tough on causes of crime'...it will settle down in a few days once the furore has died down

You won’t even need to contact them yourself, just go to their FB page and I guarantee someone has asked in the comments. That’s how I contacted mine the other day.
But if people are being fed the wrong info by their local police, we need their MPs to contact the local police and clarify the guidance.
