Hey all, I have been asked to deep clean a pubs commercial kitchen, all the stainless appliances, the extractors etc.

I haven't done one of these before, done loads of builders and end of tenancy cleans etc but I am in over my head, what do I need to know any specific rules regards health and safety chemical usage etc.

Anyone with any actual experience and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

You can safely use ubik in kitchens as far as i am aware ..my mate uses it for that type of job and it was developed for the food industry

I cleaned a bakery with him once and it was a case of jetwashing everything non electrical then squeegeeing the water out

Not sure you would want to do that in a pub kitchen though

Just a heads up @Green, I know you're with Gleaming, so may be worth double checking if their policy covers for this too! Commercial cleaning is seen as quite high risk (simply based on some historical claim data) so may be worth double checking! Can often differ from standard kitchen/oven cleaning policies etc /emoticons/smile.png

That's if you decide to take the job, of course!

Although I am not at all impressed with my current policy but to be honest I aint been impressed by ny insurance company for a long time and my policy is due for renewal.

Why is it SimplyBusiness that no insurer will sell you cover you actually ask for? Instead they will only sell you cover they want to sell you? That I can not understand, what is the point of even taking out insurance if you cant get suitable insurance to begin with (other than some BS law that says we have to have it) ??

Hey @Green, the fact that you think like this probably shows how much more insurance companies need to do to make information more accessible, easier to understand etc.

It may be that the consultants/companies you've spoken with in the past haven't communicated efficiently enough with you? Because it shouldn't be hard to find out exactly what you're after and find you a policy to meet your needs (and at least tell you if they can't so you can look elsewhere!)

Completely agree, though. If your insurance isn't covering you for what you want it to or what you think it is, then it isn't really worth the paper it's printed on!

Good afternoon and its great to hear you are with Gleaming, and yes our policy would cover that work ..... we are very different to our friends at Simply Business in that we only deal with cleaning contractors and so our service and product is very specific to this industry.

no Jimbo, not here to fight at all .... hopefully it doesn't come across that way ..... just pointing out that we only specialise in cleaning contractors whereas SB operate their business across hundreds of different sectors and trades. All good here

Its going to be great to have the two of you here, simply biz has been a great help in his time and I'm sure you will too martin.

Oh and to fill you all in on the kitchen front to do commercial kitchens properly you have to meet something called HVAC TR19 standards which then allows you to give the proprietor a certificate stating their kitchen is up to standard.

I will be attending the training course as soon as the New Street project is finished to get my certifications so I will write you all a detailed report on that as and when /emoticons/smile.png
