Has anybody had one similar to the photo below? Any good? Currently run a electric hose reel and pump of a 105ah so think of getting the 130ah.

Maybe read the description about AGM batteries here.

The main issue with AGM batteries is the charger. A standard lead acid battery charger isn't suitable long term. In fact some are totally against charging an AGM battery with a standard lead acid battery.

Thanks I've got a victron charger so that won't be an issue.

I think I have 2 of these deep cell batteries.

Had two of these batteries, connected in parallel to create a 260ah 12v bank. Using a 15A Victron smart charger, plugged in at the end of each day. I don't like to have battery system connected to van system (that's just me)
I have a powered reel, and a diesel heater.

By the way, am a fully qualified electrician, and have worked extensively on solar, wind, generator & battery systems (so not just a guy following a YouTube video), so am confident in what I'm doing is right.

Batteries lasted 4 months! Around then, capacity really dropped off, voltage would decline during the day and when it hit 11.3v it would collapse to 9v.
Once load removed , voltage would increase back to above 12v but if you drew more than 3amp the voltage would collapse again.

After a bit of back & forth with the supplier (alpha batteries) who said they only uphold warranty if shunt data is provided. But, did accept the charger data in the end.

They sent me a single 250ah, AGM, carbon battery, which is a bit of an upgrade.
So, installed this along with a Victron smart shunt and the Victron bmv display.

Now as I write this, had the battery 5 months, I'm having same issue.
So back to alpha to see what reception I'll get!

I know this post is a bit old now but for benefit of others who may be searching in the future.
I wouldn't recommend them.

Now tempted just to get some Halfords batteries, hammer them and return under warranty within the year, at least there won't be an argument every time!

Would like to know what batteries others use, especially those with diesel hot water & powered reel

I got on average 3 years from a lead acid Numax battery.
Not had any experience with AGM. Most of the yacht channels I follow have moved from lead acid and AGM to lithium phosphate.

At one time there were a few cleaners recommending AGM batteries to us as the way to go. Haven't seen a post in recent times though.

Last year I cautiously purchased a 100amp Lifepo4 battery to replace my Numax 105 amp battery. So far it's been great.

I already had a Sterling BB1260 battery to battery charger, so I just had to reprogram it to suit the lithium charging profile. I also reduced the charging rate from 60 amps to 30 amps. I have to turn off the b2b charger as my alternator is fully recharging the battery: something I have never been able to do using lead acid.

According to the manufacturer, it's good to let the battery's charge drop to around 30%, unlike a leisure battery that needs to be fully recharged asap after using it.

Winter is a slightly different story. That when I use my diesel heater. When the temperature drops to below 5 degrees a heating blanket inside the battery warms the battery before the bms signals charging to commence. This heating element draws 10 amps. This means that the battery isn't fully recharged with the low daily mileage we do.

I also purchased a 230v 20 amp lithium battery charger to charge the battery when needed. I haven't used it all summer.

We don't have electric hose reels, but use 2 Shurflo pumps all year round and the diesel heater in winter. I use more diesel running the heater in winter than I do the van.
