Since going to an electric reel I find I 'catch' the protruding 'ear' of the crimped o rings - all styles I've tried - when holding the hose as whizzes in...

I'm wondering is there a 'flush' o ring (I imagine it would 'ratchet' tight with next to nothing protruding - anyone seen/use such a 'unicorn'?

This kinda idea - but more flush?

I agree with what you say I haven’t found anything either but just go a bit careful that’s what we do and I dont generally have any problems

I use the two ear clamps like in your picture but they still catch your hands

I just place my pole hose in the van and trap it in the back door as I use rollers underneath the van, I only disconnect pole hose if it's twisted and pole hose only gets reeled in fully on my last working day or gets disconnected and hung up in big loops in the garage over the weekend.

I stop reeling my hose in when it comes to the end. This is the only place I have a o clip holding on the female rectus 21 fitting. Shouldn’t have anything to catch your hands on. Pole hose is for poles. Reel hose is for reels.

Polymorph plastic Works wonders and last for ages also cheap.

cant find the photos I have posted in the past.

Den sorry for being thick ...do you use this polymorph to encase the o ring so it's smooth? (nice idea)

I see what you mean, I prefer to use a pole hose with extends for the entire of length of the pole (Xtreme 35) so it's lighter to lift/handle when extended (I do a fair amount or large houses 3 floor/lot's veluxes etc) so when the pole is collapsed I've got a fair few meters of pole hose to wind in...it's the reel/pole hose junction that cause's the occasionally wince....some times the reel can whip it a fair pace especially when I'm in autopilot mode and not fully concentrating ?

I use some Gorilla tape and then wrap the outside of that with electrical tape. Keeps the fitting safe and provides a smoother transition from reel hose to pole hose. The O Rings don't catch my hands directly but if I'm holding it tight and not paying attention it will rip my hand inward. I've got two reels stacked on a frame and I've smashed my hand on the frame a few times.

That's never happened to me or the cloth going around on the reel until my brain kicks in ?

I've never done this ever and I use o rings and an electric reel...my PF reel has variable speed control and soft start, maybe this helps.....instead of changing o clips adjust your technique or slow down a bit and stop running around like a headless chicken!?

The powerup  reel doesn't have speed control, it's on or off ? and the momentum carries it on winding a sec or two after you realise...

I'm thinking these might do and once fitted snip the ears off or bend 'em flush- anyone done similar?

Just  on and off the power button gives you a slower re wind rather than pressing and holding .

i think you will find when you cut the luggs off that they will catch your hands like the o clips do

Yeah that's it Pjj the on/off trick - it's what I usually do...it's the times a custy walks up to or your phone rings or you're thinking about dinner or is that hose getting too close the lip of the reel...anything but where's that pesty o ring??
