No you can not clamp in any position pole is not usable when they go gardener told me I was the only person this happened to which was a lie 4 times now mine has gone and my warenty runs out soon still can't get a strait answer of them as to what is going to happen when it runs out and they don't exactly rush to fix although to be fair so far they have I also had a section snap in two and it's not abused cleaned every day used 3 days a weekmaby thats y the new new ones dont have metel rings then i was wandering y alex stoped using them also u can clamp the pole in any persion so i here
when u say the metel ring was sliping do u mean the clamp wont bite it? thats not good im saprized at that as i allways thault alex did good serviceNo you can not clamp in any position pole is not usable when they go gardener told me I was the only person this happened to which was a lie 4 times now mine has gone and my warenty runs out soon still can't get a strait answer of them as to what is going to happen when it runs out and they don't exactly rush to fix although to be fair so far they have I also had a section snap in two and it's not abused cleaned every day used 3 days a week

Won't bit and when you clean window brush head spins so useless I have had 3 sections replaced and have not had a satisfactory answer yet from gardener as to what will happen when my warranty runs out this month the last time they wanted a hundred photos and went on about wear and tear I think I was to keep in van to look good don't get me wrong they did replace after a month witch was to long a warenty is a warenty they should not give of not prepared to stand over it is good in the sense that it is light a massive difference in my shoulders not as sore as they used to be and the idea behind it was good as pole is thiner than metal rings so pole not rubbing togetherwhen u say the metel ring was sliping do u mean the clamp wont bite it? thats not good im saprized at that as i allways thault alex did good service
Hi RobertN
O won'tclamp

Hi Glen apologies for the delay in getting back to you on the forum. My router is not allowing me to access this website currently so I am having to use 3Ghi Alex im considering getting an extreme pole as my slx is a year or so old now and like to replace them yearly but im concerned with a lot of comments i read on the web about the strength of the extreme pole, can you tell me why you removed the metal inserts as i remember you adding them to better the design of the first version pole?also do you have anything in the pipeline regarding these 3k carbon poles everyone seems to be bringing out or what do you think of it?
cheers glen
I find that working with an SLX25 is good - however working with an Xtreme25 makes me smile.@Alex Gardiner could you give me a really brief explanation of the differences between the SLX25 and the Xtreme 25 please?
I clean my pole every day after work and I actually did have to send 3 parts back witch where replaced very quick section 3 that was replaced has gone again how can this be bad luck I don't think so but maybe you are right I reported theses metal rings spinning 3 months ago on section 3 and I am still waiting it took a month to get section 5 witch broke in two it's to long I use 3 days a week and clean after work don't get me wrong gardener have fixed but I have work to do I can't wait 3 months and yes it's a fantastic pole I would buy again but preferably without the metal rings it has made a massive difference to soreness in my shoulders the last time I sent pics they asked for more then more 3 lots to see if it was wear and tear I bought it to clean windows of coarse it will have wear and tear I personally feel it is a design falt maybe diferant glue is neededHi Glen apologies for the delay in getting back to you on the forum. I have posted my reply back to you below in case anyone else is interested.
In reply to your questions:
I made the decision to remove the metal inserts because the new constant diameter design of the new Xtreme sections does not have any space for the metal inserts to be added. The new pole is a completely different tube construction and cannot have the metal inserts and really does not need them. The new pole feels like a whole new class of pole in rigidity and strength. You really notice the increase in power you can apply to the glass even compared to the previous model Xtreme pole.
Xtreme poles do need a much more careful cleaning and care regime (I have attached the care guide). Some clients who do not look after their equipment as well as they should, have bought the Xtreme poles and wondered why they have worn out/failed more quickly than a standard pole. This is because they are a specialist thin-wall product not an ordinary thicker-walled pole. They are more expensive, but not because they contain more carbon fibre - in fact they contain less carbon fibre, but the carbon they do contain is a much higher grade. This is many times more expensive and more difficult to work with than the standard grade carbon fibre used in our other poles.
Looked after carefully the Xtreme poles will still provide a reasonable lifespan and will reward the user with a far easier working experience.
3K Carbon
There are a lot of misconceptions about 3K carbon. Basically this is just another type of carbon cloth. It has a distinctive cross-weave pattern and usually has a gloss finish on top. Many users of this cloth would have clients believe that it is a stronger, harder wearing, etc. than other carbon cloth types. This is not necessarily the case, it is just a particular type of weave - being cross-hatched rather than longitudinal it offers better crush resistance, but does not offer as good longitudinal rigidity - this is why those that build poles with it only use it on the outer layers of the tube as if they used it through the whole wall thickness the pole would not be rigid enough for use in our industry.
The gloss finish is actually just an epoxy layer on top of the carbon cloth. As epoxy has very little structural rigidity, poles that feature this will be slightly heavier with no increase in strength or rigidity. This glossy layer will also wear faster than a bare carbon finish. We use a 3k carbon cloth with glossy finish on our carbon fibre goosenecks. This is because we wanted the increased crush strength for the gooseneck rather than the ultimate in longitudinal rigidity as it is a relatively short product. The goosenecks also do not get the same level of sliding abrasion in use so the glossy finish does not wear off too quickly. Also it does provide them with a more technical look, which I like.
