Had my wet belt changed in the summer just to ease my mind.
Bought my van brand new 7 years ago. It’s now got 34, 350 miles on it, and with such low mileage I’ve still had it serviced every year.
I test drived several vans and the custom was a far superior drive in my opinion than any other. The turning circle is ridiculously good for a van.
My mate delivers parcels in his. It has a wet belt and has done 240 000 miles.
Apart from the usual running repairs he’s hardly put a spanner to it. Brilliant vans

From what I read they are only replacing the timing wet belt, the oil pump wet belt is staying as a wet belt! Which sounds weird as I thought it was the oil wet belt failing that either blocks the oil pickup and creates oil starvation or the bits and pieces wrap round the timing belt and cause that to fail. I'm guessing that the extended oil change intervals isn't helping either. If you have a wet belt get the oil changed at least every year.

I'm guessing Ford are addressing it as it's costing them money, I doubt they are bothered when it costs a customer.
When I had mine done the guy said it’s mainly the actual belts they had trouble with. Once you have the upgraded one fitted, it should be fine as long as it’s serviced properly

I’m exactly the same as you bought new 2018 and had it serviced every year with oil change regardless of recommended service intervals.Mine is on almost identical mileage.
I’ll get the belt done on mine first quarter of next year.
Looked after the custom is a great van and great to drive.

I actually borrowed Grippatank’s demo van a LWB vivaro it was a horrible van compared to the transit.

i was chatting to streamline about customs he was saying they have had some belts snapping also as the belt starts to break up it then causes the oil pick up feed pipe to block so you get oil starvation to turbo and balls up that too

They do make the end result very professional. It is interesting how they aren't using mixer valves.
They seem to have put the heat exchangers in series so one will get hotter than the other?
It does look nice an neat but I've never found any self adhesive cable tie bases that actually stick for very long.
I wonder why they use Jubilee clamps on some connections and self tightening ones on others?

Do any of the installers insulate the heat exchangers, seems a waste not too, maybe that would make it too hot?

Neither of my heart exchanges are insulated. Mine is a Heatwave. The stainless steel casing gets warm with a full days work, but it's not hot.

I do put a towel over the cabinet as a bit of insulation, but it takes quite a long time for the internal temperature to drop.

My Webasto is, cracked and a bit perished now

I ordered a system off them last May. I ordered an electric hose wheel, the system is all set for for it but they installed a manual wheel by mistake? Anyway been waiting since last My for them to convert my manual hosewheel to electric. Apparently they are waiting for electronic components to from China to convert it to electric, getting concerned.

Yes I was looking at this as well strange that they are so far away from the exchangers , I can’t quite work out the plumbing from the picture all that John guest hose will hemorrhage heat most use 1/2 rubber car radiator hose that’s what mine has . Looks nice though

Most household plumbing is just John Guest push fit now so I imagine the car heater hose
Is not required?

I believe any plastic based pipe will shrink if the water is 70 degrees
I would have thought it should withstand higher temperatures than that as a domestic boiler will put 80+ into radiators ? Part of my return to tank is black John guest hose and that’s is now 11 years old and has been fine not shrunk of split or gone brittle. Saying this will be the kiss of death 😂

Just what PF told me, as an excuse, when they were trying to find out why the 100 metres of 8mm hose was only 95 metres.
