How cold is too cold?

Interested to know what other peoples cut off point is. Personally I don't bother if it's below zero.
I do quite a bit of traditional work and I also think zero is a good cut off. Sometimes I find a house has one side facing the sunshine and you could clean that side no problem, but the other side is in the shade and the water will freeze on the window. Especially conservatories that are already cold anyway.

I just crack on as usual until it freezes on the glass then you have no option but to call it a day. With wfp I’ve been using isopropanol to get a bit more lee way but I’ve never used it trad as I’m not sure what would happen mixing it with fairy or any other detergent.

Yes that's the problem I find. Compared to when I started over 30 years ago a lot more people now have conservatories which they don't heat in winter so are impossible to clean trad once the temperature falls below zero. I'm part time now anyway so am fortunate enough to be able to pick and choose my days.

I just keep going until things start failing. Once I get to -5 that's when problems start occurring. I wipe with a cloth the Connie's before I go near them with water when things are freezing up.

The good old days of single glazed windows made it easier when trad, 30 years ago we didn't have a temperature gauge in vans or smartphones with weather apps, it was easy enough to be trad back then until you got to a job where they had patio doors fitted and you soaped them up and within seconds it froze on the glass 😩 then it took ages to scrape off and scrim and there was always someone in the house sat watching

Definitely. I see more and more conservatories like you say, but they are just a trap of cold air in the winter as nobody keeps them warm. That's good that you can pick your days now mate. I tried in vane back in February to keep going as I had just bought a house and really needed the money, but there were some days it was pointless doing traditional or pole work, it was just too cold.

Around -1 or -2 . If it’s been a hard frost overnight then usually set off later around 10am. Drop a little aquarium heater in the tank overnight to get the water to 20ish degrees plus everything will be warm in the back and crack on. Time to go home when it freezes on the glass or jets
