Hi im thinking about getting one of these vans question is it a lot bigger than a lwb vivaro its taller for shore and longer but dont think its wider i like the ider of ladders inside and low flore is it to big tho ?

They are wider than a vivaro I have had both , I have a mwb renault master typical renault !,,,, but it’s a good van for payload 1640 kg on mine , had it 5 years now and so far no problems ??

 
i used to have the renault version of this when i was fitting windows, good for getting everything in for just 1 trip however an absolute nightmare down small lanes or little residential streets etc so thats something to bare in mind 

 
Nice big yok lad, bit big but good job. 

I just bought myself an o4 lwb Renault traffic, some space in back of her, is the gearbox supposed to be, how can I put this, just feels clunky going into gear, an any remedies? 

I was told to change bearings in gearbox an put in the good transmission oil. 

 
Talking about vans. I can`t believe there arehardly any electric ones out yet. What with diesel set to go up and the environmental impact. It makes a lot of sense surely. I can understand couriers needing diesels but It would be perfect for window cleaners who don`t cover many miles and could charge them over night.

I had one and have now got rid of it for a diesel again. Any one man bands it’s a no brainier imo. Unfortunately I need 3 seats now with the kids and have taken advantage with being able to get a bigger tank. Any of the newer electric models that are coming out are going to be an absolute fortune

What was it like when you put the heater on? did it drain the battery.

 
Yes would be expensive but if the government were to run a scheme where you could get some sort of grant then it might be worth it and I reckon over time would be finacially viable. Less moving parts therefore more reliable cheaper to run to

Oh yeah really good torque son plenty of power for those heavy water tanks.

 
Heater ?? it’s a no go , that was it’s downfall , the heated seats and steering wheel didn’t drain the battery though. It was great having no heat as you didn’t mind getting out into the cold ?
My neighbour works for the council and comes up with that wee Mitsubishi milk float I call it. Can't put radio on, use electric windows, wipers, heater nor turn on the lights or it will drain the battery. The doors are as thick as a slice of toast. They should be banned under H&S, just a death trap. One very good point is there ability to sneak up on you because they are as silent as an assassin. And forgot to say, my chopper bike has wider tyres. ?

Where do electric vans locate their battery packs? Under the floor between the chassis rails, that's where. How do you securely bolt a tank into your electric van?  If there is any clearance between the top of the battery and the underneath of the floor, removing batteries to fit a tank is a specialists job with fancy non conducting spanners, high voltage safety gloves and specialist knowledge. Dropping a diesel tank to do this job would be child's play in comparison.

Battery vehicles will become a future resale value problem because no one will want to take on the risk. No matter how much lip flapping will go on by government policy makers, the final outcome will be dictated by buyers.

Ross Brawn of F1 mentioned in a recent interview that electric vehicles are by no means the solution to inner city polution problems of the world's industrial cities - some but not all.

There are already concerns about where the energy is going to come from to charge all these electric vehicles in the UK. I think it was since the 1st of November 2019 that new installations of subsidized residential charging points have to be smart metered so they can take advantage of cheap electricity when there is an oversupply on the grid.

I've been told that it's often just the grease on the selector mechanism drying up, re-grease and you might find a difference.

They don’t have the range or payload to carry much weight at the moment but guess things will alter in time 

 
I think diesel vans will still be around in next 10 years. So I have been looking at payloads of new vans. The top one is about 1600kgs which could just about get everything in. I was looking at a twin axle van which can take 3 ton but not sure if it would be necessary. Could fit a 1100kgs tank and RO system in it, with my 100kgs Genni, Vac and poles. I would also have my PW and 70m hosereel on a drum permanently fixed in the van and anything else that I needed. I'm in two minds regarding my next step but if I continue getting customers then that's my next step.
