Help Support WCF:

You wanna check out the latest scudo/expert/pro ace. They look pretty tasty imo
We have just got a new pro ace nice van but typical Peugeot electrical problems !,,,,,Toyota have so far been unable to sort it out after re programming it several, times they have now replaced the screen completely and re programming  it yet again and still it’s not working it  is again today at the dealership with them trying to sort it out ????

Owned a Vivaro for 8 years and hired a few transits when working away. Must admit I was always happy to get in the old van when back. A transit is a van, the Vivaro is a lot more like a car. Helmet on for abuse from the Trannies ?
We used to have a MWB high roof transit at my last job. I would compare the handling to moving a fridge... I shall also put my helmet on for the abuse ? Or I could just unfollow the post.

Ah ok, I didn’t realise the Ford was like that. Hmm. It’ll be my only vehicle probably (single lad, and one space on driveway, **** road for parking etc) so want something nice to drive. My caddy is nice & comfortable.

The one I was talking about was the older model, not a custom. I imagine it was a 2011/12 one. It had been beaten into the ground as it was used to repossess sofas, fridges, washing machines etc.

I have to say the transit is an absolute rotten ride. Never remembered my old vivaro being so bad.
Had over ten vans over the years and test drove many before deciding to buy my current van.
In my opinion the custom was the best drive of the lot

I have the new shape facelift transit custom. My previous vans have been Vauxhall. When my van was getting sorted out I had one of the Grippa Tank vans for a week or so which was a Vauxhall vivaro and only a year older than mine and the Transit was a much, much better van.I was very pleased I hadn't choose to get one.

Electric vans are a long way of yet for window cleaning as they don't have the range or payload and then there is the cost the ford electric version of mine is double the cost to buy.

That’s what made me opt for the diesel. I’ve seen the pricing for the ford electric version and it’s scandalous. Hopefully by the time this is paid off they are down on price and bettered. Done a bit of collecting in it last night and its like driving a bus for a taxi. Deffinetly found my electric far better in that department

Thanks mate, we used to use 50 degree fan jets till we tried the 100s. I preferred the 100s straight away. Son took a bit of time and a few attempts to grow to like them but won’t anything else now. Both types are very good.

You were right to be very thorough with the top frames and glass. We say on first washes that we like to get right in there, like dentists. If the dirt, oxidation and spider nests don't want to come out, we get all the more determined. Not that spiders nests and the like are a problem for dentists, I hope, but you know what I mean. ?

I'd say be super thorough with the first two or three cleans, that should sort it. On those initial cleans I'd do as Bart suggested, on the final rinse cut in just below the top frames and bring down a curtain of water. All being well after the first few cleans you will be able to fly through them.

Best of luck. You will get there.
I had the same problems starting out six years ago and lost some customers who wouldn't give me a fair chance. I got through the early stages. You will too.

As a windy friend said to me at the time, "Don't be despondent". ??

Why are fords targeted so much by Thieves & vandals?

Since I’ve been looking at customs, loads of videos on my YouTube have come up about it. Watched a video about how ford have made this new type of lock in the side door, but people have found a way through easily.

I feel like if I get one I also need to get steering lock, wheel clamps & Block the van in haha

Because Ford fitted sub standard locks in the first place.

Easily resolved with chub locks on each door, then have the standard lock on the drivers door taken out and replaced with a stainless one.

The company I used (van locker Croydon), fitted all these so the same key works all the locks ?

Ok interesting.

Yeh first thing I was gonna do is get dead locks fitted. But I’ll make a note of what you said as well. Overall do you think having the van sign written (as window cleaners) is a slight turn off for thieves?

When spending over 30 k on a van one doesn’t expect to have to do this though ,it should be more secure from the factory ,fords have never learned this fact from the 60s with the mk2 cortina !,,
