New van cant deside !!!

WCF

Help Support WCF:

I’ve got my heart set on a Swb Custom next year. The 999kg one.
Has anyone got one on a finance deal? Would you mind sharing which van you got, and what kind of payment plan you’re on? It seems quite complicated all the different options etc. I wanna own the van at the end of the deal.

I got a swb limited custom , it’s a 320 so can carry 1200kg. I traded my van in and got 8g for it. My payment is 385 a month on 0% finance over 4 years think I’ve 18g to pay

Nice! I remember the one I looked at a while back was 4K down, then £350 a month for 5 years. Only afterwards i realised it actually wasn’t a very good deal lol. I’ll have a good look around autumn onwards. And hoping to buy January-April next year

They aren’t cheap like, I was lucky with the 0% finance with getting a new one

A point each one should remember is that vehicle discounts come in various disguises.

Some offer cashback which is really an additional discount.

Some deals take some of this cashback money and pay the interest on finance deals.

Some use that discount to get a better leasing rate.

Some use that cashback to inflate the price of your trade-in.

Some use that cashback under the guise of a scrapage scheme.

We pay your VAT.

But its all the same piece of cake. Its just served up differently to attract each buyer.

'This deal is only for business users only' is another sales ploy. You get so involved proving that the van you want to buy is for business use that a buyer is easy distracted from the deal that has been put together.

Notice how the small print in an advert always states that this offer can't be used in conjunction with another offer.

And sometimes low monthly payments are made possible by an over inflated final payment/balloon payment at the end of the contract.

If the work keeps coming in then I'm going for a Man van twin axle that can carry 3 ton. Then I can rig it out with everything I need inside it and don't need to worry about the weight.
I can't see any reason why a one man band would need a van of that size.

A guy near me has a vw crafter and his fuel bill is scary.I don't see the point in driving around fully loaded up every day.The risk of having all year gear stolen would be higher as well as the extra weight using more fuel and more wear and tear.

Your right but i can't be bothered loading and unloading all the time. I'm a ton every month on fuel so maybe a bit more. I got 2 calls regarding gutter clears today so if I get them I have to unload and reload, I'm getting fed up with it. I'm increasing my prices and if I still get the work then my target is a new van. You have got to aim for something to give one motivation.

I have a new ford custom.I personally think they are great vans a little heavy on fuel but the best I've had.

Ideal for wfp and a small set of ladders or a Vac. Its when you need three 3m ladders, roof ladder, Large PW and hosereel then you need a high roof. I can get them all in with the doors closed with my mwb crafter. I made £300 today with that roof clean so its worth my while with the big van. In the end its horses for courses and what one intends to do. I have done half a dozen PW jobs already this year and still have one to do. You can make good money with the PW once your name gets about and it doesn't take that long. There is one good point to PW in Scotland, it can be done in the rain. ?

@dazmond has a new one I think
no...ive got a connect L2 240 limited....for me its the perfect size and payload for my needs(936kg)...500L tank, easy to get ladders off the roof when needed due to a low(ish) roof(compared to my old connect T230) and plenty of room for electric reel,9kw diesel heater,backpack,etc.....heated drivers seat, parking sensors, air con, heated windscreen/mirrors....had it 3 years now from new, just had it serviced for the 3rd time...its only done 10,000 miles!it should last me many years yet!

I think you will find that with the 5 ton version which is what you are talking about you will need an operators licence , and have to have maintenance checks every 6 weeks carried out by an authorised garage , works out very expensive.

This could also become tachograph territory @scottish cleaning service. With low mileage those 6 weekly check could be 12 weekly but even so are expensive and inconvenient for a sole user.

I would have a chat to the Snapon guys when you see one. They used to use 7.5t Merc vans but see they have gone to 7.5t Mitsubishi chassis cabs with a removable box body.

All sounds interesting. Had a word with my mechanic and he said the same. Looks like a no goer now. Might be better to keep my pure half filled in the spring summer when I need the PW installed in those seasons with would keep me under the limit.

I think you are right. Looks like i will need to keep or go for another 3.5 ton van and look at the Renault or Fiat. Had a nasty experience with a small Fiat car i used to own. Someone stole it and brought it back the next day. ?

You wanna check out the latest scudo/expert/pro ace. They look pretty tasty imo
Like the Toyota but probably all the same shell and different badge. I need at least a mwb and high roof van because i do a lot of roof repairs and need space for my ladders. Will probably get a one year old Crafter again, maybe lwb this time. I am getting a lot of roof cleans also and there is good money in it.
