Prices up at the start of next year

i have been asking what the old windy charged and usually they tell me...but i have changed tac now as some just charge too little....welcome to a new pricing structure for me...well ...bloody daughter....decides to get married...i have to get a new suit apparently the one in the loft aint gonna cut it...

we offered to buy a fridge freezer for her wedding present ...i had in mind the£200/250 price we normally pay...her price range started at £500 to £800.....bloody kids....and another three to come..

Pricing too low ruins it for everyone. .hence a few years ago all us windies round here were wanting to lynch the polish **** who knocked on every door saying windows cleaned 5 pounds

No problem with anyone who is paying in to the kitty but people like that working cash tax free and undercutting us is not on

Should pay uk tax for 2 years minimum before being entitled to anything

I do agree that you should change your customers,........I have removed many under priced jobs or low value work. I had loads at £5, £7. Now I have nothing less than £15. I want nothing less than £20, but it takes time and careful planning.
My father had the same customers for over twenty years but he didn't put prices up. Recently I tried to dump one of his old jobs at £15 (It takes an hour) because if I priced it today it would be worth £35. I explained this to the customer and thanked them for their previous custom.

Two days later to my surprise they rang and asked if I would return if they paid the going rate of £35. I agreed of course. I could never of reasonably put up the price every year to get it up to value the gap was too big.

they never last long when they are pricing so low

had couple of chansers who came in our area, yes they was local took loads of graft.

lasted two years. What knackered them low pricing they could,int afford to live

I feel that the more money I get per job, the less jobs I need to do in a day. Therefore the more time I get to spend with my family.

I got a message on facebook page tonight.

Another custy recommended me..I said I will come round and quote his 4 bed detached..he says fine bring some business cards as my other 3 neighbours in the close have no cleaner either. .been round and a fair few windows..20 quid x4 houses..kerching

I inherited my round from a retiring co worker a year ago, he considered many of the customers to be friends and hadn't put up some of his prices since he started over twenty years ago.

I gave them all a couple of cleans so they got to know me and judge the standard of my work before giving them a price rise, I decided at the time that some of the price gaps were too large to bridge in one increase so a lot are still short of where I would be happy.

Over the next couple of cleans I'm going to time and work out a new rate for all so they will all pay the same hourly rate and put up the prices in the new year. Won't be too bothered if I lose 10% as most will be going up a good 20% so it should still be more money for less work.

I had the same problem. Father had no mortgage, thought customers were there to have a cup of tea with. Prices weren't put up for years.

It is hard getting things sorted, but now I'm reaping the benefit.
