For all that can't see results of the vote scrims are a clear leader.

66.67% scrim

16.67% microfibre

16.67% old vest (lol)

I've used microfibres from starting off as a guy I know used to be a windie advised it (said there was really no difference), now I'm not having any problems with them, they do the job ok but I'm wondering what everybody else's thoughts are and what you all use as I'm gonna order 10-20 and might go with scrims now but not sure.

Just thought a few replies might help new members as well.

Don't forget to vote so everyone can see what most windies prefer.

And thanks.

I can't vote. I use both but only paragon blue glass cleaning ones. Must admit never tried an old vest but have just dug one out and will try tomorrow lol. I find with the paragon micro there quite thick and I can use it one day & dry it and use it the next. My scrim I only use for 1 day then wash it.

Microfibres are terrible.

Small. Absorb water terrible, the water spread through the whole cloth resulting in a lot less usage to ruin them.

last month I had been using the same scrim for a fort***ht and never had to wash or anything, kept going and windows were fine!

Scrims for president yo.

Try the paragon ones. There very absorbent.

I get what masons is saying there, I used to use scrims when I first started, then another window suggested I try scrims, and never went back. I used to go through tons of microfibres, they didn't last two minutes, before you were just rubbing water on to the glass because they were so saturated. Scrims last much longer and IMO do a better job when running the edges.

Thanks lads for the replies and the and votes, minds made up I'll be ordering the scrims but keeping the microfibres I've already got.

I'm surprised only 1 voted for vests lol

Scrim.. Started using microfibre for sills and frames.

Seen a cleaner other day with what looked to be like painters sheets.. They using as scrims. About the size of curtains lol..

when you order scrims, make sure you order pre washed ones, it can takes weeks and weeks and washing before unwashed scrims will get as soft as the pre washed ones, and they really aren't great until they have softened, with scrims its really a case of the older the better.

Thanks Ladder & Gav.B top tips again, haven't ordered any yet so definitely will get pre-washed and gonna use the microfibres I've already got for frames and sills.

I'll throw the old vest away, it was only a string one anyway.

(I am joking before someone rips me lol)

Its the same thing, only a different grade

dont write the micros off, a good microfibre will clean leaded glass quicker and better than a scrim, but like i said before, you cant beat a scrim for detailing/edging
