Solar panel cleaning.

I really can't see how it is any different from cleaning glass, that is all they are, the voltage off them is very low, you are talking 12-24 volts?

Hardly anything, and not sure how you would electrocute yourself doing them anyway?

As for cleaning them just use a nice soft brush to avoid damage and WFP away imo.

By trade I am an electrician, I am VERY rusty as I have not worked with electric since I had a heart attack 11 years ago, but I have had 3 phase 110 shocks and 240 shocks, neither are "that" bad, unless you are unlucky, you would hardly even notice 12-24v.

Can confidently wire a house so not worried by solar panels with minute amps

If i was wfp ing them with my toe caps which have the eletrical resistant soles i wouldn't get a shock anyway

Have touched mains with them on

If you were messing with the other side of the inverter and battery etc you would get a good jolt, but on the panel side next to nothing.

I remember putting lottery machines into Tescos when they first came out, into the kiosks, we had to work on them live, something to do with not being able to turn the data off or something, forget now was only young, but wired up those machines for weeks live lol.

2 phase to 3 phase

Easy really but makes you look good as a driver who just says no worries I'll stick it in and set it up

I do remember the day i found out light fittings are permanently live as the switch is on the negative

Got thrown across my bedroom when i was young assuming switch off = live wire dead

Hmmm odd, I was always taught and always switched the live, I know on a lot of vehicle electrics they switch the neutral, never come across it in a domestic situation though.

That's why i turn the fuse box off now if changing a light fitting just in case

you cant blame solar steve for running payed for courses as all the imformation he as gatherd over the years every one has charged him for ? . Not sure why solar steve comes on here apart from using as free advertising free recruting FREE ADVICE have seen him ask questions and last but not least put every one else off of cleaning solar pannels unless there doing it for him, in which case you are given god like powers which make you amune to Electrocution.

Voltage is higher on panels. Remember potential difference will be accumalitive when wired in series. Higher voltage equals lower current required, this allows thinner and cheaper cable to be used. Overhead power lines have incredibly high voltage to allow lighter cable innit.

You can ask yourself how many panels there are in one bank, how they are wired and calculate the current and voltage.

I'm gonna do the solar traing day. If he'll have me. If I can improve my safety and potentially sub contract, why not?

I am on here because when I joined I was running a property cleaning company, part of which was window cleaning. What better way to get advice and contacts than forums? Then the solar side of things developed and I rarely post these days, only when solar is mentioned.

I could have read and chose not to have posted at all, but people said I was the man for the subject, so I posted. Also, people like SPC would not even have the opportunity of learning more about solar cleaning then would they? You seem incredibly short-sighted with your business plan. Training of any form if it is related to your business is worthwhile. They call it investment and someone along the line is always going to make money from you. But if the long-term gains are there, it is worth the cost.

It is not free advertising, it is raising awareness and hopefully saving someone from an accident.

I'm afraid I am far beyond justifying what I do these days. For fear of upsetting you, I won't post links to my website explaining why, but if you choose to visit the News section of our website and see the people we partner with, you will see why I am in a good position to educate regarding solar cleaning.

If you can explain to the FWC, British Gas, Rexel, and the organisers of Energy Expo (who have given me a half hour seminar speaking part at their show in February) why you would be equally qualified to do what I do, I'm sure they'd be pleased to benefit from your copious knowledge and expertise.:specs

Just a thought, and maybe you electrically minded folk can help. Solar panels are sealed units right? They get rained on and generally battered by the weather a lot? So surely if there was any chance of electrocution the rain would have found it by now and caused it to trip?

The risk of electrocution for cleaners is very real for instance when individual modules go bad or spa's have been installed incorrectly.

Thats what I mean, wouldn't this cause the power to trip, therefore alerting the homeowner to the problem?
