Univalve stopped working today

My Univalve stopped working this morning. It was from the first batch so must be nearly 2 and a half years old.  It failed to shut the water off. I replaced it with a spare I ordered more than a year ago to get me going again.

I opened the old one and the tiny O ring on the valve section had come off the shaft. I might glue it back into its groove and put it back in service to see if that was just a one of failure.

You guys just don't understand. Where I grew up in central africa (copperbelt) you couldn't just pop down town and buy what you wanted. You had to fix what broke. That mentality is in my DNA but, for some reason, it didn't get passed onto my son. ?
