What vehicle do you guys use?

Hi guys ,

Don't post much but do enjoy reading the posts and have learned a lot from ll you guys !! Just a quick question what vehicle do you guys used for your rounds? Got my self a 2010 fiat Doblo Van but been told that diesel vans and cars for that matter don't like the stop starting especially if they have DPF (Diesel particulate filter) on them.

My van has now the engine light on and the DPF is clogged up, and been told by my mechanic that it is the wrong type of vehicle to do stop start driving.

So going to get it sorted then go for a petrol estate car I think

your thoughts please??

Do you know how to unclog it? The Fiat Doblo needs to have the DPF done about once a week. It does have its advantages as when you put it in neutral the engine stops to save fuel.

Only learned about this DPF thing the last couple of days myself so all new to me so thought I'd mention it...God knows how much its going to cost to put right!!

So may look at a van that is pre DPF , good looking Van Adams exactly how I'd sign write mine good work !

Afraid not you can put dpf in the fuel tank apparently then send for a blast for 20 mins down motorway but youtube this and lot say this is totally useless!!

Normally your "Check engine" Light will come on then you need a code reader to identify the problem , This is what happened to me earlier today now found a local Garage that can unclog it but been recommended not to use a Van/ car with dpf in short stop start journeys .

Ahh right sounds a bit technical. Normally when the DPF light comes on you have to unclog it by turning ignition on so the dash lights come on, hold your feet down on the accelerator and brake pedals at the same time for about 10 seconds, the DPF light flashes and then you have to start engine. The engine runs at about 2000 revs for 5/10 minutes and the it's unclogged. Seems yours needs looking at mate.

These vans don't like short journeys so every now and again you need to take it for a blast and keep the revs high and you shouldn't have a problem I haven't with mine.

On most you can turn the stop/start off.

Get it mapped get a dpf delete and egr blank

The van will run much better and cleaner

My Astra hatch had just dipped it's MOT last week so had to get a new car (still need something practical for kids) so went out and bought this Vauxhall Insignia sports tourer. Boots big, seats fold flat and it's perfect for the amount of houses I have just now. Was looking at a Berlingo van with the 3 upfront seats but no way could I get the kids' car seats in.
