Hi I’ve been window cleaning for nearly 20 years in the traditional way, seriously considering a wfp system, had enough of ladders lol. I have been doing research & I’ll probably need an RO system fitted in a transit. I won’t be able to afford a top of the range system.my budget will be 3k tops, preferably 2.5k really.any advise on what system to get or where to get one from will be much appreciated.cheers guys Neil from walsall ??

If you have the room to store an IBC then it is far cheaper and quicker to have a static R/O

Thanks for your reply & please forgive my ignorance to the subject. But how would that work exactly?i do have a garage I just thought having a van system would be easiest.

Good thing about a static system is that you can be making pure when your working.

You can purify your water and store it in an IBC in the garage, assuming you don't need it for your car. You then pump it straight out of your IBC into your van tank, this will take you less than 30 minutes when a van system will be a max of 300l an hour. I don't know the exact figures but you can probably do it all for circa £1k, definitely less than £2k whereas you'll struggle to get a decent van system for your budget. The van system is very useful if you intend to work away a lot or don't have the room for a static.

Thanks to u both for replying, if I did get a static ro do u think using the water tanks on a trolley would be any easier??sorry for the bombardment, I’m just so confused ?

Personally I much prefer a van mounted system rather than a trolley even though I use a gardiner’s backpack if I have to go through terrace house and a purefreedom trolley on some houses with alleyway access or cottages and house that have very delicate flowerbeds.

I fill my van by submersible pump from static Ibc tank takes a few minutes all my work is local unlike @Part Timer as he likes to watch TV up and down the country so a full RO & DI system onboard is van is much more suited for his requirements.

You would just need to fill the barrels up from the static and transfer them to your van or use the tank in the van to fill them. Won't make it any easier / harder, but the static will save you money. You will also have a lot less worry about it freezing in winter and save fuel by not carrying the R/O around in your van.

as he likes to watch TV up and down the country
Only in winter though, must admit the job I do down your way is the easiest I do currently. I have, I believe, a bigger one to do in Royston coming up where I'll be watching telly a bit longer ?

If you're using a trolley system it won't make a difference, apart from set up cost, which way you do it. How much WFP are you doing? Is it just odd awkward windows or all day tops and bottoms.
I want to make a complete 100% change, no more trad if I can help it. As u know all houses are diff shapes & sizes but I’d say on average I’d be doing 20 houses a day.

Cheers @Den I’m still confused lol...there’s so much to consider.if I did go for the static but had a van mounted tank as well.what company would u recommend to use??

Then if I were you I would get a static and a delivery only tank bolted into the back of your van. I would also get a backpack / trolley for the awkward houses. Quoting @steve garwood off to the pub now so replies might be irregular and hopefully incoherent ?

Seriously thanks for the advise guys ??

Lots of variable to consider, will you be working alone or need a two man system will determine size of tank how many properties  and size of properties you intend to clean each day, is your work local as mine is so often go home for lunch I can top up water if need be.

Everyone as diferent views on types of jets since I started using Gardiner’s 100 degree fan jets I use less water than I did with pencil jets

I have the facelift compact 325 highly recommend and that lasts me from 8.30 to approx 3.00 and still probably as 50l to 70l left each day bearing in mind that is maintence cleans this system comes delivered complete fully assembled screwed to a pallet just need to install I had mine bolted thru van floor with spreader plates as when you receive there fitting kit you only get tecscrews which are no good.

Personally there is 2 of us so my next tank will be at less 500l and probably carry some 25l drums as well for top up if need be.

The bulk of my round is around 8 miles away from where I live.i was on the gardiner website about an ago actually & saw all the different brush heads, pencil jet choices etc, & I just don’t have a clue what to choose so thanks for that recommendation as well...I currently have someone working for me but was thinking of going on my own with the wfp as I think it’ll be less cost & hassle having enough to worry if I’m doing the job properly at first or not & the worry of potentially losing the odd customer with the change over etc

In all honesty you might be better off going with pencil jets as they are easier to use are more accurate , then switch to fanjets when you have a little experience or get the brush fitted with both jets then decide what’s best for you.

Don’t confuse me anymore den my heads spinning ?...cheers. I don’t suppose u know anything about k-systems do u?i emailed for a quote, 2 man, 700l system all fittings external ports hose reesl etc £2700 with installing it.i could possibly get even cheaper if I had a 1man 5/600l system with 1 hose & reel.
