Its been drop tested by polz nd moerman, thats the problem with wagga style dog earing with the split channel u end up bending the end tabs when u drop it which is one reason why daves mods are better in th picture a few posts back.
Ive never used brass channels, but they are obviously softer material and when modified will be more prone to bending when dropped.

I rarely drop my squeegee so the split isn't an issue. The idea with the split of course is to give a very slight 'droop' to complement the 'bend in'. Takes it fractionally lower on the rubber. Just this week Polz and some of you guys comments about the weakness got the old grey matter churning. I purchased a JB Epoxy Weld pack. Mixed a little bit up and blobbed it carefully in the split and covered the front and back of the channel ends. 24 hours later got out my fine files and Emory paper and 'Voila', no split...problem solved...have been using it for the past couple of day...as Wagga would say 'job done'.

Thas a good sound methodology, but since ive modified my tools theres no need to wipe the glass edge after soaping but i have tried it the way you describe in the past, u end up with a very wet cloth. The new moerman squeegee should take over being far superior to anything else manufactured

eh i have decided detailing doesnt really bother me much so i just soap my window squeegee off and run my old fashioned scrim round having changed back from paragon cloths

found myself starting to obsess checking to make sure i had left nothing on glass and worrying i leave a small amount of water which really tight into frame seal running onto glass after leaving window

think im stuck in the 90s :rofl:

Been down to tool station this morning to get myself a squeegees to diy on, like you done on your.

It actually work! It a moerman channel. A bit shocked really cos I tried so many time in the past dog earing my wagtail and haven't got anywhere with it.

It something I did quickly for 10 min yesterday

It does work really well on my windows, will be trying it on my customers tomorrow and see how I get on.

Was unsure should i make the tip end of the channel point more like your in case I make a mistake and start scratching my windows.

I gonna do more work on it this week after I spend a few days getting the feel of it and get some more new channels to play around with.

The main thing is I got it to work which I couldn't do with my wagtail.

As long as the rubber goes to the tip you can't scratch the glass as the rubber is in the way

The idea of the point is to either get right into the corner on rubberless frames or because they are bent downwards a touch to plant the blade on the glass right up against the rubber rather than riding up the rubber and off the glass leaving a couple of mill water all the way round

If you're worried about scratching, couple of coats of 'Plastidip' rubberised paint on the ends of the channel :thumbsup:.

Loads of uses for plastidip ....too numerous to mention....fantastic stuff :thumbsup::thumbsup:.....
