Evening all , those of you that use the Gardiner swivel how long do you find they last before breaking ?? I cannot be exactly sure but the last 3 I have had have only lasted around 3-4 months before breaking as in the picture , has anyone else experienced this ? I am the only one to use my pole and they haven’t been abused as it’s in an extream 22 so I go careful with it , just thought they should last longer than that .

No faliures here either. Im thinking either the screw/nut is too tight, or the brush too heavy? that or its being shut in the van door when it closes?

Same as part timer, ours have never failed. One is a year old the other, probably 2+. How tight do you have them?
Not that tight , strange the first one I had lasted around 1 year the last 3 just a very short time , no idear @Alex Gardiner May be able to add some thoughts , maybe it is me a bit heavy handed but as I said it’s on an extream pole and I treat it gently .

Lol it hasn’t been shut in any doors and we use supreame brushes so not heavy .

I've been using the shortest Gardiner Swivel for over two years. No issues at all. I'm about to order two spares, a brush and a few other small items just to have them in the kit. I set the swivel quite loose as I like the friction set low but I can't imagine you over tighten them.
I'd imagine if they were over tightened it could possibly fatigue the plastic. I tried a longer swivel but I didn't like it. I clean quite deep sills by turning the brush.

It's a little annoying that when you order a new pole you can't select a swivel gooseneck but you can get a long carbon one! You have to buy an extra gooseneck. Plus it doesn't look like you can just buy the swivel part of the gooseneck as a spare, has to be a complete gooseneck.

This is a very good point. Maybe @Alex Gardiner can explain why or add it as an option ?

I've had one break, the others have just worn out so they can't be tightened any more, I think the one that broke was quite worn and near the end of it's life.

They do wear but last longer than 3 months and I have had a couple break.

as you can see I have put washers either side when it’s wears to the point you can’t tighten the nut and bolt up anymore this also prevents the brush moving up and down.  You get another couple or so months out of the swivel.

This is correct I have lots of fixed goosenecks that are totally no good to me.

Hi PJJ - I cannot imagine you being heavy handed!

This part should last longer than 3 months whichever brush it is used with  - if you click on this link it will open up our warranty form to get the process of replacements started.

We have always kept the swivel gooseneck off the pole options as this is more of a specialized gooseneck option. They do take practice to use and are not for every user in our opinion.
That makes sense, but it seems like a waste to have to order it separately and the original gooseneck becomes landfill (in my case at least). If we emailed in a order or put a note when ordering online, could you charge us the difference and then not waste the fixed gooseneck?

Thanks for replying. I am sure you know your market more than the odd one off us but isn't a 25" carbon gooseneck a bit specialised especially when it's listed as an option on the clx4 (I do realise that the option list is same on all poles)?

Landfill would be a waste! When buying a pole you can select 'No Gooseneck' if buying online.

If buying over the phone then a changeover can be sorted ?

The 25" is more specialized but it is still a 'fixed brush-head' type gooseneck as are all of the rest of the 7 options on the dropdown  list.

Exactly, all options are fixed!

Sorry, this isn't really a big issue just thought I would mention it and see if others thought the same. As there is only 1 person who is agreeing with me I suspect we are well in the minority.

As for people selecting no gooseneck, well human nature being what it is, people will always take something that's included as they see themselves paying for it anyway - ok very much over simplification. When I ordered my clx8 the other day I took the opportunity to pay the £3 for the long gooseneck as it might come in handy and then added a swivel gooseneck to my order.

Sorry to take up your time. I am sure you have better things to do.

PS I am loving the EZ-WRAPs they are great for quickly holding pole hose together, so much better than the Velcro ones you can get. Any thoughts on making longer ones as not quite big enough to hold a 20m pole hose extension together, does fit but not enough overlap.

Well done @ched999uk. This is a good way to reduce waste and help things evolve which helps us all. Ahem! You can make that two who agree with you. ?

While we're on this discussion about details, I'd still like to see a way of lining up the pole clamps without having to look at them incorporated into the next evolution of the poles. A half moon cut-out on the bottom of each clamp and a corresponding rounded spur on the top of the clamp bellow it, I reckon... Collapse each section, give it a slight back and forward twist and it would drop into position perfectly in line. Sorry to hijack your thread. ?

Of course a freebie is always attractive even when of no use ?

By placing the order over the phone this can be switched and the difference paid, meaning no wasted goods or money.

I think that conversing with our Customers is a very valuable use of my time - we have often modified our offerings based on feedback and demand ?

The EZ-wraps are very useful I find - even non-window cleaning things get 'wrapped' in our house! I will have a look at the possibility of longer versions.

We do manufacture clamps like this for an overseas company that we make poles for. They do work, but we have found in long term testing the locating part tends to be the weak point and can break off. I might have some kicking around somewhere.
