Spots on Glass

New to WFP and for the life of me I keep getting spots on the glass and runs sometimes. My TDS reading is 0 or max 2. I use a backpack with a 70psi pump with a variable setting or a on/off switch that runs the pump at max and it does go through some water so i use the variable setting to try and save on water. Am I just not using enough pure.

Just want to ask how much water should I be using on say a 8 window semi.

Done a few paid jobs and went back to check and was shocked how **** the windows looked, so did them again but trad.

Struggling with WFP at the mo to be honest and confidence in using it is real low.

giving the frames a proper going over on all first cleans is the best way of avoiding spotting, at first you will use loads of water but better too much than not enough with practise you will start using less, is it a gardiners backpack

If it's a first clean , then you could easily use a full back pack , after I would get 2 semis wit the same amount . Persevere it will come good .

Are the spots on houses you've cleaned for the first time with WFP? If so, you need to rinse, rinse and rinse. I know you'll go through a lot of water especially when using a backpack but you have to rinse loads on first cleans with WFP. The runs are probably coming from :turd: seals. Let them run and go back to it and rinse just under the frame.

Spots are mostly at the top and yes it is the first WFP clean. Done my own house a few times and still getting a few spots - just need to practice a hell of a lot more I suppose.

Its not a gardiners back pack an ebay special. Only hold 16 litres and I fill it at least twice per job.

U no rinse the top enough maybe try stronger flow. Pay attention to the corners of glass

Its natural to get spotting on the first clean. As the lads have said, go slow on the rinsing. Even so, its likely you'll still get some spots on the first go, we all did

Not being a big head but i don't get spots.on first cleans

I use ubik or virosol sprayed on the glass and frames or sprayed on the brush for top windows

Do above the frames and top frame and rinse

Scrub the rest of the glass and frames and don't rinse but go to the next 1 or 2 windows

Then go back to the first one and give a quick scrub and proper rinse so all the bubbles etc from the chemicals are gone

Walk away knowing it is fine

Also don't run the pump too fast

You need it to just go a couple of inches from the brush before the jet of water starts to dip downwards

Just enough to cascade water down the glass not blast it

If you can hear it hissing on the glass it is way too fast and will cause spotting

on first cleans when you first start cleaning give top seal got scrub normally go along top seal twice then gd rinse

sounds like your not rinsing enough

I never get spotting on first cleans either. Just as the other guys mentioned, give those frames a good scrub. And the windows afterwards . At every first clean I clean the house twice. And I'll never have any complaints. it takes a lot of time and water at first but then it's done and you don't have to worry about it again .

That's why i experimented @David K

I was using a lot of water on first cleans

I have found that scrubbing the top frames and above and rinsing that then scrubbing the rest without rinsing allows the top frames to drip down and the rest has had a scrub which loosens all the dirt

Then the second scrub of the glass and frames and rinse finishes the job

The first rinse i found was unnecessary and just a waste if scrubbing again after

Most important is to let the top frame finish dripping before the second scrub and rinse

First cleans give a good rinse along top of frames first, Then scrub frame and top of glass and give really good rinse along the top . Repeat this on upper upper windows first then lower windows then go back to first window and clean glass and rest of frames . Rinse Rinse Rinse

People don't rinse enough this week did 2 really dirty first cleans and both took an hour normal time should be 20-25 mins . One custy posted a review on Facebook within an hour of finishing she was so pleased with quality of clean .

Any issues in the early days can be make or break time.....

I was so eager to achieve perfection that when things didn't go right I just felt like packing in.

You either head back out there willing to constantly improve or let a couple of setbacks potentially ruin a great opportunity.......it was for me anyway and glad I stuck at it /emoticons/smile.png

Have the Windows got the vents on top of them if so they probly causing the problem if they have don't rinse through them there a pain in the a##

I'm still hybrid trad/backpack...first cleans I will usually do trad as my water is supplied by the barrel...the windows that can't be accessed from a ladder I use the pole, normally I give my brush a few squirts of diluted virosol, as others have said, quick scrub all over then a real good scrub at the frame top, rinse it down then scrub glass and rinse...the virosol foams up and really shifts the gunge, I'd imagine Ubik would do the same, takes a lot of washing and water before the foam clears.

Ubik doesn't foam as much and is quite easy to rinse

The thing I have found is rinsing too much causes problems

The more water you throw all over the windows leaves more chance for things to go wrong with drips etc

Even first cleans i rinse just enough to make sure rhe glass is wet

If it's scrubbed properly the rinse is the saame as a regular clean as you are usinng it to do the same thing which is to make sure you haven't left any bits on the glass

I reckon a lot of the time there is no need to rinse but i do it just to make sure

i dont THINK i do either, i don't check any more but i always say if you get runs/spots give me a call & i'll come back as its a first clean & never get call backs
