Morning chaps,
Anyone heard of ulnar nerve compression? As I've said a couple of times I'm fairly new to WFP , been doing it about 20 months but window cleaned for decades. About a year ago I noticed my fingers , especially my little and ring finger, getting pins and needles in them and going numb. Now it's happening on a daily basis and I thought I'd consult doctor Google and its lead me to the ulnar nerve being compressed, it runs down the inside of your arms. One of the causes is continuous bending of the elbows that some jobs can entail.
It's really worried me cos I might have to go back to traditional.
I was just wondering if anyone has been diagnosed with this and has identified the job as the cause?
Cheers,
Brian

Best to get medical advice, as difficult as it may be to get an appointment.

Dr. Google is a good source of information and may point you in the right direction, but speaking with a specialist is best. At least you are better informed when you do see a specialist.

Not sure if what I experienced was caused by the same thing but a couple of years back I started experiencing sudden sharp pain shooting between the two middle fingers (worse on the ring finger) on both hands. It affected both middle fingers on both hands and was aggravated even more by my wedding ring on my left hand. It was like getting an electric shock at first but soon led to tingling and numbness in both middle fingers on both hands. The symptoms didn't fit Carpal tunnel syndrome which was my first thought, but did fit some of what I read about Ulnar nerve problems. Mine seemed to be getting pinched at the wrist. It was helped a little by using wrist supports (the kind with metal in them).

I was talking to my motor mechanic about it and he had experienced something similar and had taken advise from a sports therapist which helped him; He played tennis regularly, which is where his problem stemmed from.

The therapist had recommended wrapping an extra layer of grip tape around the grip of his tennis racket to increase the diameter of the grip a little, and it had worked for him.

So I got some handlebar tape and wrapped it around both of my poles where I grip them most frequently. This worked. I can't remember the last time it happened now.

Hope this is useful to you

That's interesting, not a million miles away from my symptoms. I'll look into that
