Call yourself a window cleaner?

Some people don't class window cleaning as a skilled job ,,, how wrong are there , mess it up and you look like a fool

Well Im just starting out. Wfp only. No intention to climb a ladder whats point of that bollocks to humping ladders on an off van roof and wobbling away 15ft off ground. Just seems daft when u dont need to. I think the technology side of things is more interesting with poles as well. Probably try trad for sake of learning it at some point maybe come in handy. I have a cleaning business that includes window cleaning so dont really consider myself a windy just someone who offers a window cleaning service. As for a professional no more than you would consider a factory worker a professional factory worker. Not really bothered whar I am or arent or what others percieve ill just do it the way I want. Only people I have to please is my custies and myself

You need to give your wife an increase in her housekeeping budget .....don't panic :hehehe:......

as doing this will not only show that you appreciate all she does .....More importantly, it will make her feel so good within herself, now that she'll be able to give you a few quid to go and enjoy a couple of well deserved beers /emoticons/wink.png..........:rofl:.

at the end of the day....if the window was dirty and you leave it clean however you do it ...your a professional

if getting paid for doing something makes you a professional then there's a lot of dodgy professionals out there.

personally I'm glad a lot out there cant blade as just last week I got 4 good jobs with balconies that cant be reached by wfp & the last lad wouldn't/couldn't do them & 1 of them saw my add in the parish mag so binned him

If you can't use a squeegee and windwash (including on a 15ft pole) you're not a window cleaner in my opinion, you're just a waterfed pole operator. Sorry to sound harsh but the amount of people around my way that just waggle the brush round but can't trad is unreal, I've picked up about £100 per month off one particular company as they won't do insides on the odd occasion, all good paying businesses too.

This is how you determine if someone is a window CLEANER.

If let's say a new cleaning method came up in a couple of years time, where you could just sit in the van, and a robot on a jetpack controlled by you did the work for you, would we be saying, 'oh how unprofessional is that, he can't even use a wfp'?

I did trad for a couple of days some years ago, learned how to use a squeege and applicator, it does come handy when doing insides, but then again someone might just do simple horizontal/vertical strokes instead of the 'professional' moves and the window will be just as clean.

I don't mean to be disrespectful to anyone on this forum, but I wouldn't really say window cleaning is any more of a skilled job as a factory worker, as someone said earlier. I don't mind if people think I'm 'only' a window cleaner as if that would determine my intelligence etc One lady actually said to me once 'you look educated' :laugh: so you see what I mean, people think window cleaners are dumb. I'm fine with that, as long as I earn more money than them sitting in an office 9-5./emoticons/biggrin.png

All in all what I'm saying is, it's nice to take pride in your work, always aiming for high standards, a professional job, but at the end of the day it's not rocket-science as they say.

I always say....we use new equipment all the time ...it shuts em up if they have to dip into their pocket...

I would say exterior house cleaning is a skilled trade, so practitioners are skilled tradesmen (people )

It's easy to mess up a job, and requires skills not everyone can get, and pride in ones equipment and methods to do a good job.

I use a karcher window vac that does the same job

I can do both. No time for WFP'ers who can't trad. I saw one the other day doing an internal with an Unger microfibre pad. Sheesh, get a mop and blade ya cowboy!

Being hybridized i can customise each job, i find some need ladders while others need wfp but i always squeegee bottom windows with modified tools too.

So yes i call myself a window cleaner :thumbsup: ive been called other things too mind you

Cleaning a pane of glass trad isn't a skilled trade but cleaning glass frames fascia conservatory gutters and walking away with a very happy customer is a skill

Same with stick waggling..you can squirt and run and say the window is clean but do what smurfy does for a living and then tell me he isn't skilled
