I did a house yesterday and after I did the front (WFP) I went to the back, now this customer has a conservatory and I have to lean accross a little to clean the rear windows to the right of where I stood.

my pole touched... and it did literally touch a small white pole and this thing fell off...

when I finished I just mentioned that it fell off and this guy went NUTS.. saying he just spent loads fixing the roof and it was setting or something and he wants my insurance detals.

I just got the ladder and put the white pole think back on the side of the roof.. and said sorry and this guy is now texing me asking for my insurance and that I must pay for the buildier to come back and look at the roof.

I was going to let him stir for a week or so but he has texed me 4 times since last night saying hes going to tell his solicitor..

and to take the piss he PAYS me and askes for a FREE clean.... then texts me and says the next clean is the last clean...

should I just tell him to piss off.... the only thing is I do 2 other houses next to his.....

thinking of dropping all 3 and just telling him to F off...

  2. Difficult mate, this white pole - was it damaged in anyway? If it wasn't and you had put it back to exactly how it was what can he do? Simply explain that the fault has been rectified there isn't any other damage and if he wants to call someone out then that's up to him.

From the other side we sought advice of trading standards after a sign wrap company scratched our panels on our new van. It was up to us to get three independent quotes to get it fixed. Then send him a letter explaining that he had caused damaged and we wanted it fixed and here was where we wanted it done.

The bottom line is, if you've caused damage you have to get it mended but if you haven't this bloke could be trying it on for something else your not aware off. So explain the issue is fixed and let continue to throw his toys out.

Thanks, I said to him that he is also labile to inform me that he had done work on the roof since he knew that I had to clean above it.

I have just tried to nip it in the but by say - there was nothing wrong when I left, no alleged damage. basically not admitting anything on the text that he can use against me.

the white pole was not glued on or anything it is a "setting" pole to what he said. I think it keeps the plastic roof set so it does not move or something like that.

I put it back as it was and that's that....

    stuff him hes already dropped.

Just not going to admit anything, since I didn't actually break anything so in not worried and I have gleaming insurance if needed.

But as my wife said you need to fight your corner otherwise they will walk all over you...

If you drop the other it will look suspicious. You will make a name for you self doing that, not the kind that you want.

Me personally If I knocked it off I would see if any of my friends could fix it for free, or a case of beer lol. If they couldnt I would juts give him the insurance deatils or pay someone to fix it

Hi guys, I thought a update would be good. I got a text from the customer on Thursday and he sad that the roofer had fixed the work for free and that I must be more careful next time. Quote from text "you can continue to clean my windows but I will need 2 copies of your insurance and so will chris next door"

I know the next door customers name and thats not his name and I went round to collect payment from the next door customer and he said nothing of the sort while we chatted.

My missus says I should just drop him and clean the other 2 and I am inclined to agree with her. I don't need his money so stuff him.
