Ok so I made a quick vid as Jake asked for one on another thread and I cant find where that was now.
I got this heater off ebay for £51 - Gas bottle, regulator, hoses, and bits £40.

Installation -£FREE - if you can tie your shoe lace you can fit this.

Excuse the mess of the back of the van it's cleaning day.

Hose from pump (Shurflo or other brand) connects to 'water in' on the heater

'Water out' on the heater connects to the hose reel

Gas of course goes to the gas bottle.

Really is that simple.

nce set up grean im guna get one this winter for shore have u got a link for ur heater also i c yours is a 6l one some are 8l and others are 12l does it matter what one u get?

How about under floor heating. Or some clever mechanic making some contraption to divert heat from the engine to heat the water somehow.

as i mess around with cars a lot iv already done some thinking on this. the simplest solution i can come up with is using the heat of the exhaust.if you wind coils of 8mm or 10mm copper multiple times around the exaust pipe the plumb that on flexi pipes up through the floor of the van you could pass the cold through the copper to take the chill off it. whether it would be hot would depend on how hot the exhaust is annd how much copper coils you make.

Good video mate, I should do this when I sort my van mount really as my friend is the boss of a gas supply place and I get it dirt cheap, silly not to.

My insurer asked about water fed system when i wss taking out the policy they were told it was fitted and that it was a hot water system.

Not once have thay asked who fitted it or the qualifications of the installer.

Besides these heaters are litterally plug and play so no real technical stuff whatsoever as i'm sure Lewis would agree so I cant see an ounce of difference in who fitted it.

If you buy the brodex one for £495 it is sold as a DIY package. If yhis was not meant to be then surely the instructions would read different.

Also, do you know if it's possible to set this up with a thermostat??? Just thinking about overnight on the drive. Would be good if this could kick in at say 3 or 5 degrees with the outlet attached to the inlet on the tank and circulate the water to prevent freezing!!

Green, im getting problems with the hot connector poppin off when it gets too hot, any ideas to solve?

Have you got plastic connecters? I had that problem so changed to brass and that stopped it

Pete. Look at the ebay link. I have no idea of the brand name. Something chineese.

Chris. Do you mean the connector itself or the hose from the connector?

My connectors are plastic (brass for gas) but for the hotwater i upgraded to hose that can handle 80 degrees as my standard hose was expanding too much and popping off.

No the Kopperberg is not in the kit! Get your own!

Agree with green. The hose to the hot should be anti torsion hose

Another point on this topic. I've looked at these heaters on eBay and I will most likely be ordering two of them tomorrow. But here's the thing, although it's not ever likely to become an issue but within the eBay blurb about this heater is does say that it should be fitted by a qualified person. With that in mind I'm going to get a quote or two from a couple of local gas fitters. It can't cost too much can it??? It's basically attaching a tube to the heater and a then putting a fitting on the other end to connect it to a bottle.

Just noticed you have your on your door, nice placement that's got me thinking, do you need to leave door open to vent or can you keep them shut? Also whats the total weight of it all, about 50kg?

This heater weighs 5Kg!!!!!

Never actually measured it Jake, 3 - 4 weeks, however I just hoked up a new full bottle Friday night so with this as the start of the counter I will be able to look at my tally and tell you exactly within the month how many houses it does.

Green, does this heater shut down after 20 mins??

I've screwed mine to two metal bars, and they are screwed to the door. That way its not heater straight onto wood, plus its more stable and leaves a gap behind for aeration. There is a picture on this thread somewhere
