Ladder safty - what are you using currently using and recommendations

That is the dumbbest idea I've ever seen. Relying on a length of gutter and a couple of brackets. Not only that, he then goes and puts the device to one side. I can feel a lawsuit coming his way in the near future.

Even roof tiles are not strong enought I think to take my weight with ladder legs on them

I'm sure if you tried a ladder with an ankalad fitted you would change your mind.

All these gizmos give a false sense of security to the user.A bit like the Ankalad etc, i would not trust them.

The only difference to using it with a normal ladder because two are being used with a walkway they are tethered to the wall.

Do you think they would sell that setup if it was unsafe?

I agree with Smurf.He started the idea about ankalad on the forum and I have to say it makes a difference.

I've been able to do many slippery surface ladder jobs that I would have not dreamt of doing without an ankalad.

Once the outriggers are deployed properly the ladder becomes a very stable platform and with a microlite standoff resting on roof tile even more so for roofline work.

This decking for example I could hardly walk on without slipping over let alone set a normal ladder on so just goes to show how effective they are when set up properly. That part of the decking the ladder is on in the pic the planks run diagonal too.

And no the fence did not break my fall as was already blow down

Ive not used an ankalad, but I've seen the previous posts on here, and i would look to get one if i got fed up with my ladder legs. /emoticons/smile.png They look pretty good. Ill watch the above video demo now. :specs

Ok i watched the video ref ankalad staging above.

The first thing i noticed is how they first lashed the ladders to wall by a fixed anchor that obviously pre-drilled into customers wall. We spoke about this the other week.

Ive spoken to guys who were using these staging set up. They said they were great, cheaper than scaffolding but safe enough for them to replace all the fascias and gutters on a house. I saw them using it.

I wish they sold the Ankalad in Canada. There's nothing like it over here. Ladderstore doesn't ship international, but Ladder Safety Supplies does. I'll be calling them tomorrow to find out if I have to sell my car to pay for delivery.

I have a 28 ft extension ladder that is a real balancing act to fully extend, especially if there is any wind. I'm hoping the Ankalad will give me the stability I need to safely extend it.

Whta saftey do you use for day to day window cleaning, do you set up the ankalad up each time? I use the m8rix and it does not move. I see most windys dont use a think bar decent feet. I could not do that, the m8rix i find does not move at all, well that for outward slide. Its a good it of kit imo, I see a lot of people whom use it rate it.

I thought there would have been better day to day equipment out there than there is tbh, soomthing thats easy to put up.

Guy who used to do ours just put carpet on floor and put ladders on that on slippy surface, with rubber botom, I just do not think rubbe ron wet is good myself.

I don't use safety equipment for day to day work

Only when i assess the situation and think it might be dodgy

Such as when they have a pvc canopy above the front door and need to put ladders borderline over angle to reach window above or on gravel decking etc

Now i tend to use my pole and 0° instead

Practising for the wfp..lol
