What do these forum buttons do?

Just wondering - on the forum, what is the difference between the two buttons "Recent Posts" and "New Posts".

Just tried them, and the results look pretty similar at first glance.

New posts button shows only threads with new posts you have not read since last time you visited.

Recent posts shows all the most recent posts weather you have read them or not.
