I wouldn't take anybody's work but I'm getting asked nearly everyday now. Two and maybe three of the local cleaners were unreliable and have disappeared. I have been getting this story since January and was not wanting to get involved but I do other work for the customers so I knew it would happen. I will probably get the whole scheme because I'm so reliable. It happens gradually and then its like a cascade when they see you cleaning their neighbours. So much for my 100 customers which will probably be 200 by end of year.

I know by reading your 50 million post per week how perfect you are, the point I’m making is if a windie has been self isolating for a few weeks and you go round taking his work, you or anyone else deserves a kicking.

However, if he’s generally unreliable or does a bad job, then I agree, he deserves to lose customers to other windies ?

Well don't read my post then? I'm not on here to help you and never will. I am on here to help anyone who wants to learn what I have learned in the last 2yrs.

Alright don’t cry. You hardly ever post to help, nearly all your post just talk about yourself, you even got told by another member this week to post in another section because you kept talking about yourself.
Ive been on this forum for years and you’re the most self infatuated person to ever appear on here. I’ve had pm’s from other members saying the same thing. Nuff said ?

Fancy a rematch Scottish?

(How does that move even work he bounces So so high - it's like it's play acting or something ??)

You don’t get up from that too quickly
Unless you by happen to land on a trampoline-floor  ?

RW can you confirm reports circulating that WWE is so popular because fans follow the same 'modus operandi' as footie fans wearing replica kit when watching ?  ?

I take it you’ll be having a ‘word’ with that other windie? ?

We are all in this game to make money but for me I do have some self respect I won't go out of my way to take someone's work but if they are doing a s**t job then that's their problem and if approached I will take it,but I was stopped on Saturday asked was I taking on new customer's then said she had not seen her window cleaner in about 6 weeks I told her she would be best to phone him as he had probably stopped because of covid but if he didn't plan on coming back I would quote also I would ***** slap anyone trying to snip my work

Think this 'patch' tendency is a regional thing - down south I'm often working next door to another windy we stop for chat - exchange tales - no animosity at all! When passing each other on the road - head nod/wave hand/headlight flash acknowledging each other ?

In fact had a 'new' windy driving past stop, whilst I was packing up,  I was a little 'oi. oi' what this gonna be about - as he wound down his window - he stopped to compliment me on my van...more like a 'love in' than a 'stand off'

There's plenty of work (at least round here)  - you can only do a finite of regular repeat work.

No deliberately calling on another's custy but we all should feel free to blanket canvass wherever we want and pick up a new custy that for whatever reason seeks a quote and wants us to take on the work.

Best way to keep all your custys is to be reliable, friendly and do a great job at a reasonable price - rather than 'bully boy' tactics. It's not the playground ?

Agree with the sentiments of you guys, no such thing as 'my patch'. Theres a grotesque amount of work to be had here and not many windys, cpl of splash n dashers, cpl of retirees that just do a little bit and a small handful of others that help each other and are civil.

My only gripe ia the guy actually approached my customers and was willing to openly use me not working due to covid as a reason to 'poach' my customers.

I had a neighbour ask me to quote her but im good mates with her windy so i told her its not really cricket as in her words "he does a rwally good job and isnt expensive but hes not my neighbour"

I hope my comment didn't come across as bully boy as I agree there is no such thing as a patch. work where you want and do a good job and you'll keep your work sometimes I even need to see a new face about to get the hunger back to pick up jobs, but there is no need to go out of your way and try and take someone else's hard earned work

I find seeing a new competitor or being cancelled by a customer stings a bit. But then it almost gives me an energy boost of determination and resolve to fight harder for my business. As you say sometimes it's a good thing to have your hunger sharpened. Stops us getting complacent.

That's it M8 sometimes it to easy to fall in to the routine of things, bash out what needs done and get home then you start to see new faces picking up work and with a bit of effort you could of had them its at the point I get the hunger again and drop a few leaflets into the ones that look like they need cleaned
