Do you notice how everyone's garden's look like a paradise? Or at least the best they've ever looked?

Everyone's been sat at home doing jobs to make the house looks nice/while away the time - so now they notice how grimey  their house is...then they look out the window and see...is it a bird, is it a plane, no it's superwindy.

A lot of folks have been getting paid full pay but stuck at home with nothing much to spend it on - hence they want to improve their home...

It's been like this since the lockdown - I've never been as busy - every cloud has a silver lining
Never seen so many newly creasoted fences

Well not being electrically minded i bout a ready made split relay kit from ebay for £58.00

Was a piece of **** to fit.

20minutes looking for batter in my vivaro (in the end i youtube'd it and swore as id not even thought of passenger foot well)

30minutes to fit it, so easy and straight forward.

Also today, got my water bill, an increase from £35 a month DD to £54 a month.

A quick call to anglian water to explain that i now produce water and my sewage charge has been drastically reduced ???(again advice i picked up from this forum)

I should do this. Am I remembering rightly that you have to drain the waste not back into the system? As i drain mine into downstairs toilet. Guess they wouldnt know anyway.

They told me i just need to put a meter on my system that tells me how many ltrs are being used for work, so ive got a meter in the system before the prefilters, so ill declare it before waste.

The van is getting there, just gotta board out a couple of panels to hang brushes and trad gear. Wont be spending to much more on this van so wont bother waterproofing it as i want a newer van by end of the year.

I know ill get slated for the tank BUT it sits in a 3" base frame, secured through the chassis in 6 places with 4" anchor plates underneath, the base frame has 2 hooks from a lorry trailor welded onto it and then the tank is held down by a 20,000kg ratchet strap.

Well done H! Good luck to you. ??

Cheers thanks for the advice. Just trying to work out if I can make a good living out of it before I make the jump
Try and start whilst still doing your current job by working Saturdays and maybe a bit in the early evenings that will give you an idear  if it’s something you would like to do or if you hate it with a passion . Once established provided you get your pricing right Ime sure you could make a good living from it .

Any tips on creating a client base. Would be much appreciated. Many thanks
Hi Craig,

Where are you based as Norwich is saturated with Windys, but thata not to say theres not more work waiting to be picked up.

The key imho is good advertising and fly posting the right places, A5 flyers in newsagents etc.

That's what I worry about. Whether there would be enough work for me too. I was going to start by targeting the big housing estates and aim for the big houses is this a good way to start? Thanks for any advice

Went to quote aa new customer today, was a few miles (5/6) further than id normally like to go but, the family are well known in the area as developers of million pound deals, they convert Barns, derilict farms etc etc into massive properties and multiple properties.

So went in as professional as i could, really sold it in the quote and went in £10 cheaper than i probably should have.

Within 10 minutes i get a phone call, they'd love to take me up on my quote, they couldnt believe that a window cleaner would produce such a professionally worded quotation, and if my works of a good quality would i be interested in some contract work on a few properties that they are currently renovating in the local area.

Just gotta impress them with my skillz now.

Sometimes it’s a sprat to catch a mackerel , we do work for some big firms and then do the bosses house a bit cheaper than it should be to keep them sweet .

Yeah deffo was my thinking, when i first started i said to my wife "if i ever get to work for that Mr & Mrs ********, ill consider myself made it as a window cleaner" and 15 months in THEY approached me through word of mouth and not the other way round.

To say im buzzing is not even close.

I do a couple of student accommodation blocks, £150 for 3 hours work and immediate payment. The owner asked me to do his house and they currently paid £25. It's a bit out of my way and takes 50 minutes so should really be a £35 - £40 job but didn't want to risk losing the other job so said ok. It's £175 for 4 hours, including travelling, above average priced work where I am.

That’s the way to do it ,we always go the extra mile for customers like that clean the porch plastics , garage doors etc for free , I say to them I noticed the garage door was dirty so have cleaned it up for you ,ok thanks for  that what do I owe you ? No that’s ok , they remember things like that and it can lead to work contracts fir many thousands of pounds just fir cleaning a garage door or similar as a good Will gesture.

Just had a right touch, a mate of mine has said i can have some free advertising space, all i have to do is have the sign made, its on a private grass verge on the busiest junction of the town i live in so just emailed the company that did my van aign writting as they can make signs too.

There will be a little facebook icon in each bottom corner, does anybody have a similar sign or anything similar in the area you work?

Thoughts & Ideas on my sign welcome
